Yes the 757 is preferable but UA only flies international versions of this aircraft at this point.
E175 don't have ovens, so for some of those long flights, those in F are stuck with a cold meal. But benefit of the E175 is the F:Y ratio, and the 12F makes upgrade a lot easier than the 737/320.

I've taken EWR-AUS on E175 and it was perfectly fine in F or Y+.

The E170/5, if you can get the A side in FC, is a very nice plane. I actually prefer it to the 319/320/737 in FC. The only issues I have are the lack of good/warm food, and the outlets seem to struggle with two pronged chargers, as they seem to fall out easily. But it is what it is. It's certainly a comfortable ride on the A side in FC, 3.5 hours can go by quickly.

These days the 737s exhibit a similar lack of good food

At least E75s have the Express cookie.

Does UA even have hot meals on flights less than 1500 miles outside dinner time anymore?

I can't complain about this plane too much...if I am on one it means I am not sitting in a CRJ-200.

CHS-DEN - 1467 miles - flight wasn't bad at all - except it is GoJet, so the service was meh at best

Still better than a 737 - except 737 would have hot dinner - E175 has no ovens so dinner was salad or salad wrap

Yes. I have had four such hot meals in the past two weeks. But I am growing tired of the tandoori chicken.

Am flying EUG-ORD in September on the 175 and am not worried. The people who are reimbursing my travel were mainly surprised that I got a great fare to EUG from CLE ($368) versus PDX (over $500) for the same times for a trip to Corvallis; EUG is much more convenient.

Being a redeye, there will not be much inflight service--but there would not be on a mainline plane either. Flights I had taken in the past MSY-CLE and CLE-DFW on ERJ-145s back when CLE was a hub were only bearable because of having the exit row on the left. The 175 is a whole different beast than the 145.

To each his own. Not sure About the specific UA config, but the Embraer specs list the E75 range of 2000 nautical miles, which is about 2500 miles. So these planes can go longer than any of the routes listed. And other carriers fly longer - AC flies YYZ-SEA on an E90, which for all intents and purposes is the same as an E75, just a bit longer. I think it may have been a E75 at one point, though.

Not sure the complaining about the 175 though. UA used to do quite a bit of 1000+Mike routes on an E45. Was not fun, I can assure you. I’ve done it on DEN-CVG, for example. IAH-YYZ, at 1280 miles, used yo also be on an E45. So unless you’ve had the pleasure of doing a route like this in an E45, I would t complain about an E75.

They could easily install an oven if they want to though.

Correct, I believe AA has ovens on their E170/5 planes.

Similarly, although the route has since been cancelled, UA used to fly the E175 on LAX-MSP, which was 1,536 miles.

MCI-SFO

I regularly fly MCI-SFO on an E175, which is 1,498.

I would agree that it is a fairly long flight for a “regional” jet. However, if you have to do it then the 170/175 is by far the best plane to do it in.
