That said, as you correctly point out, you'll see Aviation Partners Boeing Blended Winglets on just about every passenger-carrying 757 (that's left) and some converted freighters. What you won't see, aside from the UA/FI 757-200s, is the scimitar tip, which is a small modification to the upper portion of the APB blended winglet. This:

With the savings at 1.1%, that comes to about $50k per year based on 750 gal/hour, 8 hours a day for 365 days and $2 per gallon fuel. Fuel is currently about $1.60/gal.
I can't find a price to upgrade a blended winglet to scimitar winglet for the 757, the the retail price of going from a 737 blended winglet to split scimitar is $575K.
If UA were to keep the sUA 752 for 4 years (2023), cost to install would have to be about 1/3 of the split scimitar cost to break even.
UA may have added scimitars to the younger sCO units for slight improvement in range for TATL flights - something the sUA units do not need. I doubt we'll see them on the 752.
Maybe with new aircraft (787/77W/359) coming online, the 772 range issue isn't as important, but I'd wonder if UA could save 5% on 772ERs with winglets - that would be huge, especially on HKG/India flights.

A350 has something like that, but not nearly as much in proportion to the frame like a 37 or 57. Dreamliner has a bit of a lift, but a wing completely different, and of course 747-8 wing is kind of similar, and not at all like 747-4 winglets.

I did some reading on the Internet today that said the 777 series has a raked wingtip that acts similarly, as well as suggesting that the winglet would not provide enough efficiency vs. the increased fuel needed to fly the plane. I am no expert on these matters at all...just relying on the top Google search results

The 777 wing is a more modern, higher-speed design than the 767 and generates significantly less drag to begin with. I believe the issue with the 777 wing is that a blended winglet or raked wingtip would be large and require structural modifications, and the device even then would not deliver the same fuel burn benefits as the 757/767 blended winglet.

The 764 does indeed have raked wingtips, which are more efficient than blended winglets that 763s have.
The 777 wing comes in two sizes,
200' wingspan which is for the 772A, 772ER and 773 non-ER - these do not have winglets or raked wingtips
213' wingspan is for the 772LR, 772F and 77W and have raked wingtips.

Not sure of the tails, but I noticed the following departing HKG yesterday. The ex-HA that was sitting outside on the ramp is now in the hanger, the 772 that was outside is also now in the hanger with an additional 772 also in the hanger. Again, probably not much help without tails, but I was too busy enjoying my Krug in CX F to get the info

New to the forum, hi everyone. Is there any way to know for sure whether a specific UA 777-300er has been refitted with premium plus?
I'm flying SFO-TPE tomorrow morning on UA 871. The seat map looks sort of cut-and-pasted right now, with seats J20-22 and C20-22 missing. When I called the premier desk, I was told that a re-fit is underway. They could not tell me for sure whether Premium Plus is now in place on my plane.
In the United App, my plane is "#2135", which I think is a serial number that corresponds to the tail number. No idea whether that info helps of course. Just hoping that if I provide enough details, one of you can verify whether I got the new PP seats. According to the seat map I'm in 22k, but again, the seat map for this flight looks noticeably different from the seatmaps found on United website and on SeatGuru.

If I'm reading things right, 77W #2140 will do its first flight with PE installed Thu Jan 10, UA896 SFO-HKG. I'm on the flight in J, and there's no "Where is this plane coming from"; the Fleet site shows it as possibly in mod in SFO.
