1. SFO-SIN-SFO
2. 1/23/19 (out) & 1/29/19 (return)
3. W
4. Y-C
5. Purchased 11/19/18
6. Cleared at booking (had I booked on 11/18, I could have snagged 1/24/19 for the outbound; PZ had vanished on that by Monday)

Still waitlisted are the IAD-SFO-IAD segments. I have no hope that the outbound will clear (have yet to have one clear via instrument this year), but the return is a redeye on a Tuesday night; I am somewhat hopeful it will clear.

You are correct!

In fact there is a spreadsheet (which I just updated to this point) which contains all the GPU successes for easier tracking.

On a side note, I'm in transit to DPS (flying UA to SIN then SQ to DPS). My GS friend gave me a GPU to apply to my W fare back : SIN -> SFO (UA 2) on Dec 16. We'll see how that goes! Upgrade hasn't cleared yet but I know this route is very competitive and the GPU was applied 2 weeks ago. On the one hand my Gold status must put me towards the bottom of the pecking order for instruments. However, OTOH my GS friend may have some impact on my chances of clearing. My best guess is, if this sucker does clear it'll be at the gate (will keep everyone posted!)

Hope that helps.

Safe Travels,

James

GPUs from GS, even when used by non-GS, need PN to clear. PN will open before PZ ,so anyone using a GS's GPU, will be ahead of anyone not using a GS instrument. In the GS supported group, it goes by the traveler's status.

Thanks for the clarification on that!

One other question: do the upgrades clear at T-48 (or less) since I'm Gold or do they just process PN and if I happen to be in the right spot of the list it'll clear?

Safe Travels,

James

There are no time windows for non-CPU flights. Is a matter of if or when PN is opened and your position on the waitlist.

My return is showing J9, JN9, C8, D7, Z4, ZN4, P2, PN0, PZ0 and IN0 for the UA operated segment SIN->SFO (I've looked at SIN -> YYZ (via SFO) since I know married segments can sometimes do funny things to the actual inventory available to you). In any event, looks like there's a better than 0% chance this upgrade will clear!

Will keep people posted either way.

Safe Travels,

James
