- No more free stopover - replaced with Excursionist Perk
- Agents no longer have the ability to find routings or build itineraries that do not show up on united.com
- Manually constructing trips using multi-city search results in multiple award fares being charged
- Changing any segment basically requires current availability for all existing Os&Ds in the PNR (as if a brand new booking is made)
- Singapore Airlines segments are priced separately (add-ons)

What is the Excursionist Perk?
The Excursionist Perk is a free one-way award within select multi-city itineraries. Members who book an itinerary with three or more one-way awards will be eligible to receive one of those one-way awards for free, if it meets all of these conditions:
The Excursionist Perk cannot be in the MileagePlus defined region where your travel originates. (For example, if your journey begins in North America, you will only receive the Excursionist Perk if travel is within a region outside of North America.)
The Excursionist Perk cannot be in the MileagePlus defined region where your travel originates. (For example, if your journey begins in North America, you will only receive the Excursionist Perk if travel is within a region outside of North America.)
- Travel must end in the same MileagePlus defined region where travel originates.
- The origin and destination of the Excursionist Perk is within a single MileagePlus defined region.
- The cabin of service and award type of the free one-way award is the same or lower than the one-way award preceding it.
- If two or more one-way awards qualify for this benefit, only the first occurrence will be free.

Trying to book a flight between SBP-SGU which are both destinations served by United. I can find flights on Google Flights which link to United who will ticket them to me (I would assume). Since I'm trying to go next week and the tickets are relatively expensive, I thought I would check the price in miles. I can't find any flights between those cities for miles (or even money) when searching on the UA website for any dates. I also checked SBP just out of curiosity, and still no flights to SGU. Is there a reason for this?

Website showing availability but won't let me book
For the past two weeks I have been trying to book business class using points CLT-BUD/PRA-CLT or leaving from GSP or AVL also looked at flying in/out of VIE, MUC and some other routes. Doesn't matter the route, airline or date I continue to get the same response shown in the photos. I sent photos and videos to UA chat and they eventually told me that it looks like the "mileage requirement is yet to be updated and the current miles that should have been shown are only viewed on the popup message after you've selected the fare." Which is not what is happening if you look at the images.
Still going on two weeks after that exchange so I called today. (I am semi-flexible on dates and location but we usually fly the 6:30 LH flight out of CLT to MUC for 88K one way in business so that is our preference) . I tell her it is clearly a tech issue on the website or app (I have tried both and used Safari and Chrome). She puts me on hold and first tells me that the "system has been down for a while but all of the business class flights are booked" whatever that means. She then offers me a routing from CLT to SFO to AUK and eventually to BUD for over 500,000 miles. When I ask why she would offer me a flight literally around the world to get to Europe she says "that is the only thing available" which isn't true in the least.
Anyway, I am on hold to speak to someone else but just curious if anyone else is seeing this? I have no status but do have an Explorer card so I do see discounted rates. Sorry the images are so giant, I don't know how to fix that

I know this is super common on American (lying to me about 40k NRT->SYD J seats for weeks now...) but I have seen those on occasion with LH group flights. Did you check redemption options on LH to see if they match?

You can use multi-city search if you really want to book this. UA has no interest in selling you this ticket: A map from the Great Circle Mapper - Great Circle Mapper UA only serves SGU from DEN. You fly for 2 1/2 hours and end up further from SGU than you started.

But those arent your only two options. You can fly AA via PHX or, from SBA, you can fly DL via SLC. Either of these would be hours shorter than flying UA, and quite possibly cheaper to boot.

That said, also worth considering the long but not terrible drive between LAS and SGU, and flying between LAS and SBP on Alaska.

The AA option is feasible I suppose, I just try to stick with UA. Driving to SBA isn't really a good option though since it's 2+ hours by car vs the quick drive to SBP....plus I can easily get a ride to SBP whereas SBA would require me to get a one-way car rental since I'm not going to park my car at SBA for a month. I think the best option if I don't do SBP-SGU on UA would be SBP-LAS since that's a more direct flight and not terribly far from SGU.

UA Award Flights- July 2025
Hello. We are hoping to get some UA Award flights for 4 nonstop flights from DEN to LIH (Kauai, HI) in July of 2025. Since the UA website only shows flights through May of 2025, I picked some hypothetical dates in May to get an idea of how many miles 4 rountrip tickets would be and its 200,000 total for all 4 of us. Not bad at all! However, we only have 30,000 Chase credit card points accumulated to be able to transfer to United. The cash price of the 4 tickets is twice the cost. Since it's going to take some time to accumulate 200,000 points to transfer to United MileagePlus account, I wonder how far into this year or even early next year I still have a chance to get those award flights? Thanks for any advice!

A good way to test is do what you have been doing but check dates - weeks, months after the date has opened up to see how things change.

Help with Award Routing
I'm trying to book an award flight between PHL/EWR and PNI. For some reason, all routings involve either the last LAX-HNL or the last SFO-HNL of the day. Many routings arrive in LAX/SFO earlier in the day, but make me sit around LAX/SFO all day. We'd like to get to HNL earlier in the day so we can relax and get some good rest before headed out on the island hopper.
I thought international connections were permitted to be up to 24 hours, but UA.com isn't showing me anything longer than 12 hours.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to handle this?
Note: This is a repost. My original request in the consolidated award fares stickey never got answered.

Unfortunately, I think the only game in town these days for a single award ticket, is to take what united.com shows you. The same will be true for calling an agent. There may be programming to limit 24hr+ connections when searching for awards, but I wouldn't call it a "rule" around which someone can build an itinerary.
You could do a multi-city routing PHL/EWR-HNL and HNL-PNI, which will probably get you the times you want. Of course, you will be charged separately and likely higher than a single one-way between PHL/EWR and PNI.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but I think the days of customization, even if it sounds logical, are long-gone. Good luck.
