I am 2 miles from JFK and have already booked 2 trips out of EWR just because of this promo.
I will earn an extra 10K PQMs. Surely worth the 45 minute drive.

Received email confirming the registration
I received an email a few days ago from United confirming my registration in the program and reminding me to book flights and fly. It said:
Experience our exceptional transcontinental service and choose your bonus.
Thank you for registering and choosing your bonus. Be sure to book and complete your travel by February 29, 2016, and make your p.s.® Premium Service flights on United® even more rewarding.
We look forward to seeing you on board soon.
I'm glad I received it because now I have proof. I had already booked my November flight to LA prior to the promotion but have since booked a flight in January.

It would have been awfully nice if they retroactively applied this. I will be flying enough p.s. segments to get 2 RPUs if you count all my travel between now and the end of February - but only 2 segments will have been within the booking window.

Called Mileageplus service center a few times, asking for a confirmation of the PS bonus. I kept getting transferred to reservations and vice versa many times. Eventually got disconnected while waiting.
Then I submitted an email explaining the 2 versions of this bonus and all I got was a response from them asking what is the promotional code I received. Is there a promotion code available for this or a webpage with the 3500 PQM bonus? All I see is the current 5000 PQM, which is lacking a promo code.

I received the offer today through snail mail. I had already received it via email and had already signed up for it.
Interestingly, the letter starts with "As a valued Premier Gold member..." The problem is that I'm Premier Platinum. Whatever. I got the better offer of the two.

Welcome to FT!, wb233629
Huh , seems clear the GF was the intended recipient.
As noted earlier the salutation mentioning status is frequently wrong and it is doubtful UA knows who your GF is.
Calling up is unlikely to do any good -- the agents don't have the ability to sign folks up -- that decision is made by others.

Update: My November MileagePlus monthly statement included the "Choose your bonus with your next transcontinental flight". Choose from bonus award miles, upgrades or Premier qualifying miles when you fly between New York/Newark and Los Angeles or San Francisco.
So I clicked the Register Now and it showed that I am already registered for the (3500 PQM) promotion. I didnt receive a confirmation email the first time I registered so its nice to know that I will earn the bonus prior to purchasing a transcon. Hope this helps others who question their confirmation.

Cannot Register for PS Bonus, but Received Offer
Anyone else having a recent problem registering for the PS bonus targeted offer? I received a advertisement in the mail and also two (2) emails with my Mileage Plus Number (partially redacted). The most recent one said that I had not yet registered and was a reminder to do so. Terms and Conditions said must register by February 15, 2016. It said that I was not eligible for the offer when I tried to register.

There have been two different bonus that related to PS
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...-segments.html that had multiple options of which you were eligible for only one and the other options would fail.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...her-fares.html which had a bad email and registration failed --- but was replaced with a second email and link that worked better. This one applies to PS but is not PS only.
Suspect you are asking about the second but it wasn't labeled as just a PS bonus.
