only times I haven't seen the full cart is turbulence. If they're delayed even 10 minutes, they can't get prepped and everyone serviced before it's time to shut down again.

EWR-PVD on UX last week in F; a/c went mx on the taxiway. spent a little more than a half hour in EWR's ballpark, returned to gate to switch a/c. now running an 90mins late. finally get an oj a few minutes before arrival in PVD. Y passengers got nothing for the entire 2.5hr+ process.

as much as i wanted to speak up, i found it entertaining to see how long the FA could stay seated and read his people magazine. bringing my own water bottle helped.

definitely doesn't seem like the norm. i've been on EWR-BOS a few times last month for work, definitely remember cart service on all of them.

this is what i never understood. other airlines show it's possible. wonder why we can't. or won't.

Evidently.

But my real point was that this is a garden variety UA incompetence/inconsistency issue, not a policy one.

I recently flew UX RNO-SFO, RJ 192 miles, 1hr17min. Invariably is announced "due to the short duration of this flight, there will be no beverage service". Not even water is served. A few weeks ago my morning flight was held for nearly an hour in the air over Point Reyes, because the Vice-President was departing SFO. Did this prompt an offer of coffee or OJ? Unfortunately not. I then made my way to Asia. Flying PG BKK-USM, a 1 hour flight, again in coach, a full hot meal service with choice of beverage. Finally I get my morning coffee!

In my opinion, I think it is not unreasonable to expect a cup of coffee on a 6 am flight, which lasts an hour. Clearly UA does not agree.

not if it costs $0.50 of freshpoo and $5 of jetfuel to power the coffee machine.

Any flight under an hour I wish they did this.

I see no need for a coke or cocktail for a <60 minute flight.

Water, OJ, Coffee. K.I.S.S. No need for anything else.

I've experienced this too on the 35 minute EWR-BOS mainline flights....

I can't say I blame them for a flight that short.

Nobody is consistant. I've flown LAS-LAX on UA, DL, AA, and WN. Its roulette. Sometime full service, sometimes water, sometimes nothing, on all four airlines. I'd imagine EWR-BOS is the same. Flight attendant discretion

First of all, I don't think DL flies BOS-EWR-BOS.

Second, I flew DL BOS-JFK-BOS on 717s last month and got nothing in Y. I even asked the FA whether there was any beverage service on these flights and she said no.

The shuttle to LGA is a different story.
