UA - NO CPU for any tier; mileage upgrades now have expensive co-pays
I hear what you are saying, but then we would need to also add that UNITED also gives RPU's to Plat/1K.

I think it depends on where you sit on the totem pole, but that's always the case.

Unfortunately, the sUA FAs on both our flights seemed to have adopted the habit of congregating in the forward galley to chat following meal service. So we were forced to listen to FA chatter for about three or four hours in each direction. This was not exactly conducive to sleep on the red-eye. (It also resulted in some less than stellar post-meal service on the return. Not only were drinks not replenished following conclusion of the meal service, but the empty glasses were left sitting on our table for several hours.)

Think I will go with row 3 or 4 for the next flight, despite the smaller footwells.
What about row 5 as it also has larger foot wells? (and 5 E&F) are the bulkhead behind the galley so it cuts out the light and the noise)

I've done 5A/B and would never again, as they look straight into the galley. Plus the FA's tend to put the snack basket right on top of your AVOD monitors

Possibly 5E/F, per JVPhoto. Although I've actually really liked row 4 in the past, so long as you don't need the footwell space to sleep.

When I was flying UA on that route, I always took 5E or F for the reasons you state.
