As of 3 March 2019, UA elites are being matched to the new Marriott Bonvoy Gold level including those UA elites who had gone Marriott Plat status during the Marriott / Starwood merger process. Marriott Bonvoy Gold does not include lounge access and late checkout is 2 PM

Q: If I registered and was granted complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status through RewardsPlus and have re–qualified for MileagePlus Premier Gold® status or higher for the following year, will I need to also re–register my request for complimentary Gold Elite status for the following year?

A: No. Members who have already registered for and received complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status through RewardsPlus in a calendar year and who qualify for MileagePlus Premier Gold® status or higher for the following calendar year will have their previous registration with RewardsPlus automatically renewed and will receive complimentary Marriott Rewards Gold Elite status for the following calendar year.

-------------------------------

For the United elites who are new to Marriott Rewards, here are the benefits you receive as Gold. Please familiarize yourself with what you are and are not entitled to as a Marriott Gold.

Also, please be nice to the Marriott 'newbies' who come to this forum to figure out what UA Silver gets (or doesn't get) them.

And here is a thread with some details for the newly-minted UA Silvers:

I’m in a similar, pleasantly surprised, boat - 1k for a few years, now silver in 2019. My Marriott plat status is still showing. Wondering if/when it will disappear. (Also wondering when my hertz pres circle status will disappear)

Booked a Renaissance exactly for that reason.

Still Platinum here too. I didn't even re-qualify for MP Gold so it's doubly confusing!

... I sure ain't complaining. Sadly my next Marriot stay won't be until July so I'm like 99% sure it'll be gone by then haha.

Not ready to count this egg as hatched, but I do wonder if Marriott watched their bookings slip with the utter mess of a program integration, and as a result they are holding this granted status in limbo until they feel bookings have stabilised.

Or they are too busy putting out fires elsewhere and can't prioritise figuring out how to execute the downgrades.

Yeah. That sounds feasible.
Something tells me that there's going to soon be quite a few disappointed people....me included.

The party is over for me. My matched 1K to Marriott Platinum ended sometime between yesterday March 2 and today March 3. I am down to gold.

Incompetent Marriott IT caught up overnight...... I'm now Gold Not surprised, but disappointed that my stay next month at the Mumbai Marriott won't include the lounge (a huge loss) and the 4 PM check out (loss, considering the almost midnight departure). Going to check out other area hotels now.

Figured!

Although, in looking over the benefit differences between Gold and Platinum, they may not actually affect me as much as I initially thought.

- The lounge access is gone; that one stings, although to be fair, I never did have that many stays where 1) I had time to use the lounge, and 2) the lounge was any good.
- Late checkout: 2pm is better than nothing. I think I only ever made use once of checkout between 2pm and 4pm.
- Points accumulation decrease; yeah, well. I'm used it from United's "P" fares. What can I say?
- Welcome gift now points only; yeah, I took the breakfast as Platinum a few times. Was quite convenient. Points better than nothing, I guess.
- At least the "enhanced" internet is still there.
- "Enhanced Room Upgrade"; that will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I have no upcoming hotel-stays booked. Will be interesting to see if this "downgrade" will actually change my booking habits in the future, and what sort of impact the downgraded experience will have (compared to Platinum).

Time will tell...

Like others, my match to Marriott Platinum has disappeared within the last few days. I’m back to showing at Lifetime Gold..

I was too optimistic about Marriott "goodwill" and am now downgraded to Gold. Changed my two Marriott reservations to Hilton, where I am Diamond. Costs are about the same but I gain lounge access and potential good upgrade.

Plat to Gold this morning as well. Canceled my $250/night 4-night Westin stay and rebooked the Doubletree for about the same price, except with HH properties, I get breakfast and lounge access.
