767 routing changes
For the past several years there has always been 1 or 2 767s doing EWR-IAH and IAH-EWR daily. I just starting to book my April flights and these all seemed to have gone away. I was wondering if there is any way to figure where they might have been gone and if they'll ever come back. I generally always scheduled these flights as it maximized my CPU chances.
Somethings I've thought of are:
Seasonal repositions - Now these are starting to go to more places in Europe, South America, etc.
Coverage for routes that where supposed to get 787s. Before the grounding UA had 6, not sure how many more should have been delivered since then, but should have been a few. None of those are flying now, so something has to fly those routes.
The flights were always pretty full, so I can not see it being under utilization.

Using a 767 is not profitable on that route. While CPUs may be great for us, UA doesn't make any money on them so they are better off using these planes in markets with a demand for BF fares. It's more profitable to operate 11 or 12 757s, 737, and A320s with fewer BF seats.
I've just gotten spoiled (over entitled:->) over the years.

I always presumed that it was a way to get some better utilization out of the birds. They generally always were coming/going from overseas. This gave them a way to get some more usage each day. Arrive EWR early morning. Take and afternoon trip to IAH, leave IAH early back to EWR and off to Europe for the overnight.

We do get one down to IAH.

Reservations for IAH-GIG in April have changed from 777 to a 767!
I like the single BF middle row seats. ^

Oddly there are no 767s in the IAH-EWR/vv schedule past 4/9.
There is a 777 IAH-EWR 7/1-8/26 (may not operate all days), UAL1558.
And before anyone asks, no 787s in the IAH-EWR/vv schedule.
edit: On 4/9, the 763 starts rotating SFO-IAH/vv, but only through 6/5.
edit2: Also on 3/30 the 764 starts rotating IAH-IAD/vv, but only through 6/5.
edit3: Also 3/1 - 6/5 there's a 763 going ORD-IAH/vv.

SFO-HNL
One has (finally) reappeared on the SFO - HNL route. Complete with lie-flats. In my book, the old 767s were the best way to get to the islands, now with lie-flats, even better.

That's the one that just came out of the shop. I wonder if they'll keep it on that route or move it to the IAH/EWR/IAH-HNL. Unfortunately, I suspect the last two original config 76H will be doing SFO-HNL and IAD-HNL.

IAH
I flew one of these back in December. I was connecting at IAH headed to EWR and was scheduled to leave on a later flight but once I arrived at IAH, I saw this one was delayed, so I went and asked if I could get on it - I got a boarding pass right away - when I entered, there was at most 1 person per row per side - I was assigned an exit row seat until the gate agent came in few minutes later and gave me a boarding pass to sit up front in the BusinessFirst cabin. It was my first time traveling in BF and I kept thinking why they are sending it out so empty but once I got to EWR, I found out it was continuing on to LHR, so obviously they needed it back at EWR to continue to Europe.
On another note, I have had a lot of changes for flights booked in June and often I've had a new aircraft substituted - mostly 757s replacing 737s on transcons. Very nice.

Back in Y, the 757 isn't better than a 737. If it's a PMUA plane, it's even worse, so why are you happy?
