The 3rd UA 787 flew to San Antonio for the battery fix yesterday.

Why would you make such a comment when you could have looked yourself and saved the embarrassment?! Checked 1 in each market and they are at probably 20% capacity. Not that it might change quickly, so I'll ask again, does UA know they'll fill or not care about loads/revenue?

Not sure the reason for the quoted text / full-fare blurb. There are certainly available tickets in discount economy on these routes...at least on the days I happened to see.

When those 787 schedules appeared in the GDS overnight, they were showing only F/Y/B fare available. All discounted fares are now open.

What we don't know is how many of those PS F seats were paid F seats.

It is well known to UA employees that the F cabin is usually available for NRSA travel.

Also, even if some 3-cabin F are "only upgraders" those still are paid C tickets being upgraded. If you don't have an F product to upgrade into, then those passengers may as well just buy Y and upgrade into C vs. paying for C. So having an F also helps to sell C.
Not necessarily so. Particularly these days, there is little assurance of actually receiving an upgrade. If I am traveling for work on an international flight, I'll pay for C because I simply won't fly long-haul in Y.

All that is changed is that, while I am paying for C (and sometimes F), it is not on United.

There probably wasn't enough of a market for AA's 10 seats and UA's 12 seats per plane, per frequency - but dollars to donuts there's plenty of room for AA alone in the market.

Having just gone to GRU and back in those C seats (will be F on A321), I can say the ride is going to be SPECTACULAR.

The question I have is whether there would be more of a demand if the airline made trans-con F a true premium service (instead of essentially C with a different, and not better, seat).

With the bean counter mentality of the U.S. airlines these days, we'll never know.

You didn't check the actual fare and loads. You can buy all manner of tickets in non-full fare. I'm not embarrassed - I checked first. You checked, looked at seat space, which has nothing to do (directly) with loads, and didn't even bother to see that the pricing was a low fare class, and not what that random note said.

Folks on this board know I do my research first. But nice trying to "get me". I expected better from an experienced FTer.

To answer your question: UA cares about revenue - it is the note that is inaccurate.

LOLLLL

Not in a long time, not a very long time. Domestic F for an employee is almost unheard of with the automatic upgrades for revenue passengers. We might see it on an international flight, but the best we might get domestically is E+.

Must be why I didn't see them at IAH yesterday and today. Though didn't get a good look at the area when UPS planes are, so it's possible one or two were still there. The one that was parked east of Term D definitely wasn't there.

EmailKid, ready to fly the 787

I'm flying June 1 IAH - LAX in F on the 14:47 flight (737-900). They have just added in a 787 flight on the same route departing 15:00. Are they really going to fly both these planes or combine them?

Stop back peddling and posturing. You only asked if I looked at the loads. And I did as much as any of us can short of being a UA agent. You didn't mention anything about verifying the validity of the alleged fare T&Cs which I (and I'm sure you too on more than one occasion) often take for granted.

You didn't do any research before your knee jerk post - I got you.

Well, if you noticed, my response was to a comment about three-class PS service aircraft.

I assume you know that there are no auto upgrades on PS flights and I standby my comment. F on PS flights is still normally available for NRSA travel.
