There probably wasn't enough of a market for AA's 10 seats and UA's 12 seats per plane, per frequency - but dollars to donuts there's plenty of room for AA alone in the market.
Having just gone to GRU and back in those C seats (will be F on A321), I can say the ride is going to be SPECTACULAR.
