It looks like they changed the background on the web page. Once again, functionality that customers actually care about takes the back seat to United Marketing. Imagine if United fired its entire marketing dept. and shifted the resources to providing better, more reliable service.....

Wow - I was lucky! It was super slow a couple of hours ago when I purchased my reserved (farelock) ticket. But it went through and I eventually got the confirmation receipt.

The website was working all day for me. Just now (before midnight ET) it's dead. But UA Insider and others reported issues over 12 hours ago. Weird.

It's back! Fully working for me - able to login and search for flights without any issues.

Have been trying to access United.com since 9:30pm Central Time.... no go on both my home ISP connection and my cellular connections(Galaxy S7 edge on Verizon, and Pixel XL on Project Fi) All say the same error message) Also tried anonymous VPN with Australian, UK and Japan IP address... also no go.
Then it magically started working around 12:20AM.

Back up and "View/Change Seats" is back.
That preferred seat crap was not my cup of tea. Even if seats get nixed, if it is happening enough to warrant a 'preferred' label, that is not acceptable. I still don't get why if my seat can disappear, why can't it magically re-appear and the usurper go somewhere else. Either the seats can change or they can't change. Pick a story and then stick with it.
