7 year old son lost Nintendo switch on United flight
My son left his Nintendo switch on a United flight from MSP to ORD, 3/1/20 Sunday.
He is heartbroken, as am I. I filled out the online form, but haven’t heard anything. Is there anything else I can do? Any person I can call? Thank you! |
Welcome to FT! Sorry this is the reason you find yourself here.
Here is a thread with lost and found info. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...ost-found.html In short, there is nothing additional you can do that will help. I had an experience several years back where my kindle fire (with ZERO identifying marks ie name address, etc) was reunited to me after several weeks. Trust in the system, UA does do a good job trying to reunite items. |
There really is not more to be done. With luck, it was located by cleaning crew or turned in by another passenger and will make its way back to you.
It helps if his / your name and contact information were taped to the back and if you were able to supply a serial number when you submitted the form, but those are "helps" not absolutes. |
Thanks.
Name is on the case and device. I do have the serial number. Crossing my fingers. Thanks again. A |
United lost (on plane) and found experiences?
Curious if anyone has any recent anecdotal lost and found experience with United they could share? My wife just left a beloved (and expensive) Chanel bag on the plane, complete with all her credit cards and ID. She realized it about an hour after we deplaned, long after we left the airport. Mistakes were made, but we're hopeful it will be found. We filled out the form but it's a bit disheartening to just wait. Wondering how long it took for others to hear back. Thank you!

About three days after leaving my iPad on a flight into ORD two years ago, I received a call from ORD baggage lost/found without having filed a claim. They asked a few identifying questions, upon which I was welcome to pick it up at my leisure. I was very grateful to UA for the efficient handling. I friend of mine in DEN had similar experience. Good luck to your wife!

Not so fun update - Unauthorized charges from Texas have started showing up on the credit cards. We're in California. Looks like it was stolen unfortunately. Hold on to your stuff!

Chargerback LOB
Other than electronics, has anyone ever had success with Chargerback, United's Left On Board support?
In First/Business I have left bagged clothes with my UA elite flyer tags three times in either the closet or overhead bin. Nothing has ever been returned. I filled out https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/travel/baggage/lost-onboard.html the same day, each time. I even returned to each airport and went to lost and found. |
I once left an Ipad on the plane after landing in Vegas. I realized right away, called global services and they transferred me to the Lost on Board support. After filling out a form, I called back, the new agent called the team on the ground in Vegas and they had the IPad, were ready to send it to Houston. I hopped in a cab, and picked it up. Moral of the story, call the ground staff at the arriving airport. They may have it.

Based on recent experience, items may take a few days to be checked in to the LOB system. Especially on weekends, they may stay gateside until someone brings everything down to the baggage service desk where they get entered in to the system. Agree with above, if you can get a hold of someone at the airport luggage counter they can call the gate area and have them check for your item.

I am happy for you. Maybe because I am a lowly 1K, and not Global Services...? I called the airport about an hour after landing at LAS, while driving my rental toward Zion NP. My question was "Other than electronics..." because it seems that only electronics are returned.

How long ago? Its not a system that works "overnight". Keep the faith, close your eyes and believe in the system, especially if you had your info on the bag.
Lots of successes in the lost and found thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unit...highlight=lost The first time was in 2017 (on a return flight from HKG), the second in 2019 (on a return from CUN) and the third time was on March 15, 2021 (ORD to LAS). Every time I was flying in First/Business, each time I filled out the online form within a few hours after landing, and I also walked to lost and found luggage as well as to the checkin counters. I replied, emailed and called multiple times. Maybe because I am a lowly 1K, and not Global Services...? Based on this thread, only electronics are returned. Again, these were clothes in a clothes bag, with my United Elite tag containing my Mileage Plus number, phone number and address. Twice I left clothes in the Business/First closet, the last time in the overhead bin over 1E/1F. It has been four years since my first incident but I am still waiting, patiently... |
Lost item UA 194 - tips?
Anyone have any tips to locate a lost item from UA194 into Munich?
A few years ago I lost my travel accessories pouch while in biz to Sydney. I emailed 1kvoice and they located it from local team and I was able to pick it up on way back out of Sydney. But there seems to be no more 1kvoice dedicated email? |
