You’re probably wasting your time with United and the arrivals lounge. The items were likely turned over to Heathrow Airport within hours or a day or two. It is often incorrect to assume that property left in a lounge is held by the lounge operator. For example, items found at the United Club or Polaris lounge at LAX are turned over to the LAX airport police on Sepulveda. At LHR, the likely destination is here (they may even have contact numbers for the lounge):

Did you check the database? I have also read about parents putting an AirTag in/on kids cherished buddies, at least while traveling. Seems like a good idea. Good luck!

Beware - Grover might have been misidentified when taken in with a variety of puppet characters by people less familiar w/ them. Cookie Monster, Bert, Elmo, etc.

The database works well but you have to try a bunch of search items like COAT instead of rain jacket. For Grover, even try "doll" and "toy" . . but they said it could take up to 7 days to get input. You'd thing a precious Grover would be carefully looked after. IF you aren't actually sure if Grover made it through Immigration, you could check on Flight Aware to see where your plane went next, in case that side cabinet wasn't checked by the cleaning crew. It happens! Good for your son for wanting to keep Grover safe during landing. :)

Thank you very much. Are you talking about the LHR page, or putting in multiple terms in chargerback?
looked up where the plane went, too. IAH. Filled out an IAH list item report, and tried to have 1k baggage call over to IAH baggage but - surprise - they don't answer their phone.

what are my chances of getting a lost item back?
I arrived at SFO from PPT yesterday on UA 114. I was seated in premium seat 20 L. After passing through customs and immigration and going to the UA lounge before the domestic flight I discovered I left a toiletry bag in the pocket of the seat. I put in a lost item report which has been acknowledged with a report number.
What are the chances I will get this toiletry bag back? It had medicine, contact lenses in it amongst other items. it was reported within 2 hours of leaving it on the plane. Also, I got a text with a report number saying an email was sent for following up bt I never got that email. |

If you bought a lottery ticket, it would be easy to calculate the odds that you hold a winning ticket. That's not possible when you're talking about a lost item. Moreover, even if your toiletry bag is recovered, it might be a day or more before you and the bag are reunited. If you need to use the medicine or contact lenses within hours, you probably need to replace them immediately, unless you have backups at your final destination in the U.S.

DId it have contact info enclosed. Need to realize that hundreds of lost items are found everyday at major airports and most are not reunited with the passengers. An amazing number of computers, tablets, .... are left at TSA on a regular basis.
Real time recovery would be much greater in success rate than after the fact, including items left behind on aircraft. Good luck to the OP. |

No, no contact info. First time in 30 years of flying all over the world I've done this. I was very tired and jet lagged. The toiletry case would have been found as soon as the plane was being cleaned and serviced for turnaround to go back to PPT. If the cleaners turn in what they found it should be on file.
Do it now! |
My daughters Grover was found in CLE, flew out again, then found in CLE 4 years later
