Is there really anyone who seriously thinks the upgrade list is just elites listed by status? That's what UA's promo materials are telling their customers. If it's not actually true, there's a problem here.

#1, #17, #47, if you don't get an upgrade, what difference does it make? My recent SFO-IAH flights on sUA 757s have had < 10 (sometimes as few as 4) cleared for a 24-seat F. I'm 1/10 so far on CPUs, it is what it is. And yes, there was one flight where the # of GS was breathtaking, so to speak.

But a "problem"? To me it's more like BINGO, a game of chance, and like Vegas, the house has the advantage.
