Anyone Else Having Problems Changing Seats?
Since the new site came up, I cannot seem to change my seat assignments. I go to my itinerary, click the seat I want and click continue. When I come back into the itinerary to check again, I still have the old seat. No matter what I try it does not work. And yes, the seat I want still shows as vacant and not restricted. Any ideas out there?

I had that on Monday night. went to move our seats at T-24 because we decided we wanted aisle seats for a TATL trip and were grandfathered in to a window and middle....Made the change, clicked continue and then went back to look at the res to see if it really took. We were in the same seats but when I went to check in five minutes later, the res showed the original seats but the BP's showed the new seats. The best part, we each had our own row in E+ when it was all said and done.

This has been an ongoing issue. There are apparently two places the seat assignment is stored, and the one you see when you pull up your reservation can apparently be out of sync with the "real" one.
One way to check is if you do a dummy booking, you can normally see which seats are really available (i.e. your new selection should appear as occupied)...
Or, for that matter, when you pull up the seatmap again, you'll notice that while you appear to be in the same seat, the seat you clicked on is mysteriously now booked...

I guess some of you didn't get the latest memo sent out by UA a month or so ago!
Sudoko in Hemisphere's has been replaced with a pre-departure game called "Make a Pattern"! The object of the game is to make a picture of something related to the flying experience you are about to experience by clicking on available seats. Your seat selections will block out a particular seat each time you choose it eventually making it impossible for others to select their choice and/or have 2 adjoining seats in the same row!
Really a cool change that I like!

Weird seat behavior on my end: Flying PVD-ORD-LAS this Saturday (which by the way I'm completely paranoid about because this is a new PVD-ORD flight on the schedule, and last week it was delayed 5 hours... feel free to allay my fears if you can come up with a good argument).
Because I'm nervous about the connection, my girlfriend and I booked 3B/C on PVD-ORD so we could deplane quickly. The website has shown 3B/C as our seats consistently for months, but today when I viewed the reservation, it had turned into 19B/C. I immediately moved to 12B/C (exit row) and called the Premier Line. The person I talked to had no idea why I was moved, nor did her supervisor.
Then when I was venting about it to my travel companion, I logged in and discovered that we were back to being listed in 19B/C! I called again, and this time the agent confirmed that we were in 12B/C and acknowledged that there's a problem with the website. Thinking that might have been the issue in the first place, I asked if 3B/C were available, but he said those were taken.
Everything seemed fishy, so I called back for another agent, who confirmed that we're currently in 12 (though the website still says 19), and also said unprompted that there is currently an issue with seat assignments on the website. My questions to United are (a) how did someone else end up in our original seats, and (b) why did the first agent not acknowledge the website issue?
Then for the ORD-LAS flight, I have Gold status, and there are 19 unclaimed first class seats out of 24 (at least per the website) but supposedly no upgrades available. But that's a whole other issue...

This is a known glitch. If you click "Continue," your new seat assignment is most likely locked in. The system is just failing to update the on-line seating information so you can't see it. If you call in to check, they will see you in the new seat even though you can't and your boarding passes will print for the new seats as well. This has happened to me on every trip since 3/3 on which I have tried to change seats.
Really annoying for those of us who are obsessive about checking seating assignments.

I realized that I need to wait and check again a few hours later. If I do that, I find that the seat change is accepted.

For the life of me, I don't know why some think that SHARES/.nuke/.pss is an improvement over .bomb. If I didn't care about which seat I sat in, I'd fly Southwest.
Since I do - and especially when I'm flying with my family - spending every other moment checking on seat assignments and flipping through several pages and links of crap to get to the seat pages that have my family's selected seats go awry anyway because of how poorly they cut over to SHARES - and no plane changes - just plain sucks.
