Weird seat behavior on my end: Flying PVD-ORD-LAS this Saturday (which by the way I'm completely paranoid about because this is a new PVD-ORD flight on the schedule, and last week it was delayed 5 hours... feel free to allay my fears if you can come up with a good argument).

Because I'm nervous about the connection, my girlfriend and I booked 3B/C on PVD-ORD so we could deplane quickly. The website has shown 3B/C as our seats consistently for months, but today when I viewed the reservation, it had turned into 19B/C. I immediately moved to 12B/C (exit row) and called the Premier Line. The person I talked to had no idea why I was moved, nor did her supervisor.

Then when I was venting about it to my travel companion, I logged in and discovered that we were back to being listed in 19B/C! I called again, and this time the agent confirmed that we were in 12B/C and acknowledged that there's a problem with the website. Thinking that might have been the issue in the first place, I asked if 3B/C were available, but he said those were taken.

Everything seemed fishy, so I called back for another agent, who confirmed that we're currently in 12 (though the website still says 19), and also said unprompted that there is currently an issue with seat assignments on the website. My questions to United are (a) how did someone else end up in our original seats, and (b) why did the first agent not acknowledge the website issue?

Then for the ORD-LAS flight, I have Gold status, and there are 19 unclaimed first class seats out of 24 (at least per the website) but supposedly no upgrades available. But that's a whole other issue...
