Is the only way to identify V- or Q- Ups through EF?

It's cause you're still a PP...drop to GM next year and watch the good offers fly :)

I use KVS for my TOD pricing checks

Miles Ahead May 17, 2013 10:06 pm

Offered GF at check-in from R, NRT-SFO (old style 777) for $959. Dropped to $939 twelve hours later. Declined both.

Is this considered low or normal? I mean, the flight is only 45 minutes right?

Block time for this route is 1:21, but actual flight time is about 55-60 minutes depending on flow control/atc

PS R->F $349

Seems to be the going rate or me these days. Filled up with nonrevs.

What flight? Today? Was there an elite upgrade list?

Micp3208 May 18, 2013 7:35 pm

Sorry, for tomorrow UA 358. Forgot to include that. There was an upgrade list with one seat available, 7 booked. I was fourth or fifth (I had attempted to use miles with $75 fee) but was offered the "Confirm First" deal, at check-in and passed, but kept checking, and suddenly it was $99 dollars with only that one seat still open. I had to take it. Figured I already had an E+ seat and will get that refunded.

Good deal for you. 16 on the UG list and likely to grow. TODs coming back strong now it seems.

The message I got with the pricing made it seem that if you have status, it would be cheaper. I have none, so am glad to hear it is a good deal. If any of my flights are oversold, I will gladly offer to switch flights. I have nothing to do until Tuesday! Flying 6336 (RNO-SFO), 358 to DEN and 238 to EWR.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Some great examples in this thread of non-elites getting much better offers than elites.

In your case, $99 is about the legit one-way differential between your W fare and a discounted F seat (V-up in this case). Of course, as always, this continues to ignore the fact that the V-up has a 21 day advance purchase requirement, and that price shouldn't be offered to anyone inside T-24 hours.

I have the same route booked three times in June, July and August. One they wanted $3,200, one was $230 and one was a dime. Watching the August flights for a TOP (10s of pennies)

I get the dynamic pricing logic and understand different dates, different demand. But if I had upgraded with miles it wanted a $600 copay. :confused:

So have you taken these (excet the 3200 one) yet? This is a broken model as your example gives evidence to.
