My travel companion (without status, and on a different itinerary) was offered an upgrade to first for $49 after I was informed none were available on a complementary basis. What gives?

If you can, please post your companion's fare code as well as route...can then deduce if it's yet another legit (unfortunate) TOD.

And......it's not a legit one.

It's a legit B fare.

Hmm, but if the companion has no status then they are not eligible for Y/B-up. donjo is. So it seems the TOD offer is trumping the Y/B-up, or no?

My point exactly. When I called the Premier Line, I was told that the last remaining seat was not in a fare bucket that allowed for an instant B-up. I asked her why my screen had an icon that said click here for an instant upgrade? She didn't know but suggested I call web support. At this point I gave up. I should've just purchased the upgrade. Apparently that is what they want to happen anyway.

Legit B fare != legit B-up for a GM

Moral of the TOD Story?

So whats the moral of 60+ pages of TODS?

Is it less expensive for a TOD to take the offer b4 OLCI? Take the offer at OLCI 24hrs b4 departure? or chance it say at the airport? (Assuming its still available)

No. The moral is, if you want to sit up front, pay or confirm with an instrument prior to T-24.

PN bucket has to be not 0 for instant upgrades. 60 pages of non TOD upgrades, with a few exceptions, show this thread is mere sour grapes.

That you have your settings on FT improperly set so as to result in more pages/series of posts than is necessary. ;)
