NorCal to Guadalajara

I need to make a trip to Guadalajara in June. I travel a lot internationally on UA, but seldom/never to Mexico or South America - so the UA-CO merger has appealed to me because COs southern routes are so much more extensive. Now I'm about to find out what it's like.

Any suggestions or guidance? I can depart from SMF, OAK, SFO, or even LAX.

TIA

The only airline flying SMF-GDL right now is Alaska. In July Aeromexico begins serving this route too. However neither are useful for Star Alliance mileage which I assume you are looking for given that you mentioned traveling a lot on UA internationally. These flights are overnight flights southbound.

Continental has an overnight non-stop from SFO to GDL leaving just before midnight and arriving around 5 a.m. or so.

If price is a factor and you don't care about Star Alliance mileage then look into Volaris departing non-stop out of Oakland or San Jose.
