Daily data:

Cases 194,747 (183,037 last Wednesday)
Deaths 334 (57)
Patients admitted 2,258 (1,228 on the 21st)

We are still playing catch up on some of the data here. The cases data again shows a small increase for England over yesterday (150k/148k). Booster jabs have now reached 60.1% of the 12+ population.

In particular from the notes :

Today’s death figures include a backlog of hospital deaths reported overnight by NHS England covering the period 1st–4th January.

Good news... really bloody good news. The inbound LFT is a faff and caused me a lot of stress when I was supposed to be chilling out on vacation.

I am also grateful the day 2 PCR test and self isolation is going away in favour of a LFT.

One question though - is the passenger locator form going away too?

No, not yet. That could be something for the next review. There's no profit in it, so anything is possible.

This is what I see on the GOV.uk website and NHS website almost every day when I bother checking.

I tried generating a 'collection code' and went to the Sainsbury's Pharmacy (and Boots) with that. The assistants there sighed and said that the system generates a code regardless of whether they have any availability or not and that they've been without LFTs for the past week or so. I guess, much like the fuel shortages, or the shop shortages, London is getting the short end of the stick again.

I just had an order accepted for home delivery. Just keep a browser window open and try every now and then.

I've not had a despatch email since we moved to the green boxes.

Hopefully. Without the requirement for a day 2 PCR, I don't see what the value is.

the plf will be the last thing to go and I suspect it won’t be for a year or two yet. Also the day 2 lateral flow is still reported if positive and will still result in pinging nearby passengers based on the plf.

i also suspect the PLF will still require an order reference for a return LFT, like you need for the day 2 PCR...that would be the only way they can control people not relying on and sucking up NHS provided kits...while maintaining a cash stream to the govt donors too of course.

Hopefully the previously purchased day 2 rapid tests with their codes will remain valid for those of us that have some on the shelf.

Question, I'm a fully vaccinated US citizen arriving in Bristol on Sunday January 9th (after 4am). Can I get the antigen test at the airport on arrival in Bristol? Thanks!

Expresstest is not giving refunds for pre-booked Day 2 PCRs. Only vouchers.
