I found out yesterday that the Tier 3 limitations in London don't apply to most shops; on a brief walk on Chiswick high road I found the street to be packed with shoppers and places selling home appliances, Japanese knives, clothes and Waterstones to be open and doing a brisk trade. Basically only pubs and restaurants are closed. I'm feeling a bit baffled.

Restrictions on businesses are mostly around restaurants, bars, hotels, and indoor leisure. There aren’t any restrictions generally on shops since 2 December.

To be honest some of the pubs around Shoreditch and Bethnal Green were having interesting concepts of takeaway, with beers being consumed all around their premises but not within the boundaries. It felt like a normal afterwork drinking sessions when I saw them.
