Kids eat free at LHR...
There's a seasonal promo running at the moment where kids eat free at various LHR restaurants with a paying adult

Interestingly, at The Perfectionist in T2 and Gordon Ramsay in T5, they always eat free! Never knew that (& it'll save me a few quid at Christmas!)

Restaurants marketing to attract customers so as to grow revenue and profits results in you eating higher costs? Perhaps this is subsidizing the singletons.

Exactly, kids-eat-free is something we see a lot in the US. It's a typical loss leader, a relatively inexpensive kids meal is given away with the hope that mom and dad have a drink or two. The profits on the alcohol easily cover the free meal. At LHR they're trying to entice a family to come in and sit down instead of a grab-and-go like Pret (or McDonald's in the US) and sitting at the gate.

Hey singletons, you happy sharing a table with a stranger every time you go into a restaurant?
There are various ways of claiming things are unfair. If you're someone who can never manage to eat a full main course are you being discriminated against for being forced to buy food you can't eat? But then again how much of the price you pay goes into the raw ingredients? Are those who drink alcohol subsidising those who don't?
The thing about kids eat free deals is that kids don't eat a lot and such a deal might get a pair of adults into the restaurant who would otherwise go elsewhere.
