Exactly, kids-eat-free is something we see a lot in the US. It's a typical loss leader, a relatively inexpensive kids meal is given away with the hope that mom and dad have a drink or two. The profits on the alcohol easily cover the free meal. At LHR they're trying to entice a family to come in and sit down instead of a grab-and-go like Pret (or McDonald's in the US) and sitting at the gate.
