If on the usual westerly arrivals, and arrivals are on 27L, Myrtle Avenue is always a good spot. It is only a few minutes walk from Hatton Cross tube station. You may have to bring your own beer though.

You want the 490 if you're coming from or going to t5 (i.e. if you're not going back to your hotel). There will be other buses which go as far as Hatton cross and you can get the tube there too without paying. The 490 goes right past the pub but you'll have to pay a single fare unless you walk from Hatton cross. You'll only see anything if the planes are landing on the southern runway.

The 423 and 490 are free from T5 to Hatton Cross.
