Wrong Suitcase Issue

Hi Guys,

So recently after a long flight back to Heathrow I was waiting for my suitcase and an identical Samsonite suitcase came out and I didnt note it had a priority tag which I didnt recall but thought maybe during transfer. Anyway as soon as I got home, it dawnd on me this is not my suitcase as it had a turkish tag on the bag.

I filled in a missing bag report to Turkish and explained I had someone else's bag and shared the tag number of the bag. The tag does have contact details so I was tempted to contact them but thought Turkish would suggest returning and confirming mine is with them.

This was done on Monday and all I have had from Turkish is were investigating, we will ask the airport, I sent a chaser and all they said was to describe my suitcase but not ask for the one I have to be returned.

Now I was thiking to contact the baggage agents at Heathrow and get assistance but I am unsure who does it for Turkish, my guess is its DNATA. But at heathrow Turkish operate at T2 so I am not sure the contact number since I cant locate any online. In addition I am not sure if they actually have mine or someone else has taken it, should I contact whos suitcase it actually is, they seem to be a business class passanger from the tags.

Appreciate the assistance in whats best to do

I would treat it as two different things

1) Get the bag you took back to the other. I'd ring the owner, offer to drop it to them or back to the airport for them to pick up.
2) Chase the airline (TK as well) you were flying with for your bag.

Maybe i haven't understood the situation fully: you don't reveal the airline you were traveling with, but I'm guessing it wasn't Turkish. You should contact your airline about your bag. It's likely it is with that airline's baggage agent at Heathrow as unclaimed baggage. Unless, of course, someone carelessly took your bag by mistake .......

Normally they courier a retrieved bag to you. But where the passenger abandons his/her bag on the carousel they may expect you to return to the airport to pick it up.

Quite separately you really should do everything you can to reunite the bag you took from the airport with its owner. If there is an ID tag with contact details then use those to establish contact with the bag's owner. If that isn't possible then you need to either return the bag to Heathrow (there's a baggage enquiry phone in the arrival area) or phone Turkish Airlines 020 3991 1993. Keep it simple - they are not interested in your bag, just tell them you took the bag of one of their passengers from LHR T2 by mistake.

It is Turkish, I will reach out to the bags owner and inform them of the same, if not I will return to Heathrow
