It's time for me to contribute and share

TK36 YUL-IST April 19th, 2019. I chose Sea Bass (had too much steak and lamb in Toronto and Montreal earlier). My seatmate had beef.

Wow, TK10 has 2 entrees that I consider as TK's signature J dishes. Lamb Chops and Potpourri of Seafood. Forget about the mushroom soup, .....

TK 66 IST-DPS ( Business Class )
Departure Time: 1:30am
Long-Haul Dinner

The menu says "lamb cubes", but the chef explained that minced lamb was loaded. Not an issue and just as delicious.

Looks like this snack menu will be available on the 787 as a replacement for the snack bar.

First time in TK J (BKK-IST), was really looking forward to the food. Big disappointment. Second worst J food I've tried (after UA who set the standard in bad food).

Btw one of the choices was "potpourri of seafood" - those fishes lost their lives in vain.

What's going on? Wrong route?

TK65 BKK-IST, Aug 5. To provide some context, here are the dishes (between two passengers):

No idea what it was but it tasted terrible. Middle item might have supposed to taste Thai, I think.

Appetizer - curiously same selectionas the main dish.

Undercooked mushy pasta.

Cream of pumpkin - could have been mushroom.

Potpourri - dry fish, soggy spinach. Potatoes were the only edible part.

Dry store-bought kind of baklava.

My wife had the same menu item on LAX-IST last week but says hers looked different. Fish was a bit dry, but well seasoned.

I usually get seafood potpourri only out of IST. It's the only station knowing how to do it right.

I just had the same appetizer on IST-TLV and it was way better - still not best airline food I've had, but pretty darn good. Will post a photo in a bit - it even looked different.

So does TK carry food from "home" on return flights or does it get it prepared locally? If the latter - I guess that would explain the terrible food quality of BKK. As an aside, TK lounge at BKK is a joke food-wise, the worst of all *A lounges both at BKK and pretty much anywhere else I've seen. They really should not have bothered.

For flights 8 hours or longer it's the latter. For medium range, like 2-5 hours, it seems to be former, you can tell the food under tinfoil wrap with the label "dönüş". I believe this is to reduce turnaround time and also cost at outstations.

TK1827 - IST-CDG, Tuesday 6th August 2019

Looks exactly the same as @tr3k had in post #42 ! My main was satay chicken with buttered rice. The chicken was moist and I thoroughly enjoyed the seafood potpourri starter. All the meal lacked was some lokum with the post-meal tea.

I had 3 trips BKK-BRU so far and am not impressed by the food (the BRU-IST food is decent enough)
I flew QR for 5 years before switching to TK and found QR food to be excellent. QR has become too expensive...
Last BKK departure I visited BR lounge, excellent and best BKK shower sofar, did not have time to visit TK lounge (incoming flight got diverted to UTP!)
I am considering a real good meal at BKK Novotel between two flights after check in, plenty of time and simply sleeping all the way BKK-IST.
Found the breakfast omelette way to fluffy and I have 4h for breakfast at IST lounge, might pass the onboard breakfast also...
