Read this entire post and looks like I might be screwed. I have a TK flight BOS-IST-BOM and back on Dec 10 - 20 and was looking forward to the CIP Lounge that I have heard so much about and then I learnt about the new Airport and if it does open on time it will most likely be a royal boo boo.

The weird thing is that flights can be booked on LH,TK, TAP and BA. on the days that there are supposed to be no flights in and out of IST

It's not weird, at all!!! Reason is simple: in those days they will still fly out from Ataturk Airport (the current IST or LTBA). On October 29th, 2018 there will be a "good-for-nothing" and purely "show making" ribbon cutting ceremony. A few planes will land and take off. Finished, thank you for your day!... Then the site will be shut down, again. Expect it to be fully operational only after July 2019. One other rumor (but yet a faint one) whispers 29th May, 2019. The question still unanswered is: will the transition at mid-2019 cover all airlines in a big bang operation (i.e. will the itinerary of Oct. 29-30-31 be shifted simply to mid-2019) or will there be a more progressive transition?

So they have turned on the lights that were installed some time ago? Does that mean that runway testing which is now over three months late of the first runway has started? (Not), and the second runway of which there is no mention? Or the third, which is when we will see any real actual impact of having a new airport?

With so much scaffolding and bags of cement lying around there is no way this airport is 85% complete. I guess come Dec 10 I will be transiting threw ISL and not IST,

Don’t worry. Everything will be good. Over 30,000 employees working to finish in time. On October 31th you’ll see... 😁😁😁

I sure as hell hope you are right as I would like to experience the new airport but just because 1 woman can deliver a baby in 9 months does not mean that 9 women can do it in 1 month.
