I was quoted (and took) $1099 for JFK-IST for a Y-C upgrade on December 24 last year around 2-3 hours before departure, purchased at the airport sales desk.

Promotional upgrades at IST - what / how much cheaper are they?

I have upgraded myself on a few times to HEL at IST (desks next to the Gold check in). Yesterday the process was somewhat different - I went to the ticket counter, but the guy directed me to the last counter closest to the check in counters, he checked if there were promotional upgrades available. There were none so he sent me back to the ticket counter. At the ticket counter the price was way too high so I passed, but the ticket counter guy told me to check again at the gate, if there will be a promotion available

So is this new, and what kind of prices should I expect?

I today just bought up IST-HND on an award ticket for $685. Last min at the check in counter with no lounge access (had thru Star Gold).

787 that’s half full.

Are you getting these offers from targeted marketing (ie e-mail) closer to your departure date or is this exclusively airport offers?

HND-IST, April 28
¥90,000 (approx. $692)

Not a bad deal considering it was the first evening of Golden Week in Japan. Only one other open seat -- the one next to me.

Trying to see if I can upgrade the other way when leaving from ATH but I'm not optimistic.

Last month I saw a sign at the GRU check-in counters about USD 999 for upgrade GRU-IST.

I was in J/C already and the flight left with a few empty seats.

Does your booking class change when you cash upgrade?

Usually not. You’re supposed to get the original class earnings but if they reissue the ticket then you may get J class mileage.

Evening all. Does anyone know if TK are offering cash upgrades from BJV (to LGW)? Or if Bodrum classifies as an outpost? I’m on an S class Economy ticket and hoping for a cheap cash upgrade offer either online or at the airport.
