There are five of them at Dulles now.

If the program is very successful, then I would think that CBP would add more kiosks. Even if more people find out about it, remember that not everybody qualifies for the program.. Even if it takes a minute or two for the kiosk, remember that if the lines are packed, you'll still get through much faster.

Does anyone know if you can use the kiosks for visa holders who need their stamps re-stamped?

What do you mean visa holders? For non-US persons? I thought one of the requirements of GE was that you be a US person (PR or citizen).

No, there are some non-US citizens that belong to GE, and others that are eligible. It's not widespread though.

Please clarify--are you referring to those old US-VISIT kiosks that foreign citizens used to use when leaving the USA? Because that is not the same thing as Global Entry we are discussing on this thread.

What "stamps" needing re-stamping are you referring to, exactly?

Isn't the Netherlands part of the GE program now, and they have a program US citizens can join or am I wrong on this?

Yes they do and the program is called FLUX and can be found here: http://www.globalentry.gov/otherprograms.html

I believe that the system will X you when you try. However, when in doubt, you could always use your skip to the head of the queue privilege to get stamped.

It is at least open to Dutch citizens (with or without visa) through the Flux Alliance.

At JFK on Saturday there was no one else using the 2 kiosks, I had them all to myself. Very smooth experience. So far, I'm loving it!

Flying from GCM to ATL today so will have a chance to use GE for the first time. Will see for myself just how slick it is.

A GE fringe benefit?

I have flown from MUC to ORD three times this year.

To get to the gates for flights to the US (at least on UA), you go through a secondary security screening. This is complete with metal detectors, bag x-ray equipment, etc.

I have had the initial screener (checking passports, boarding passes, etc) remark that I am a member of GE.

As I proceed to the actual security lanes, another security staff member calls me over and tells me it is OK to bypass the security screening.

Is this a benefit of being in GE or is this just luck or coincidence??

There were 8-10 when I came in to IAD last week. Nearly all of them were in use when I hit them. Of course, 2 minutes later they were empty (or so I think--there was no line, but 2 minutes later I was getting in a taxi).

am generally very happy with global entry.

still, i'm annoyed that canada and the us can't get their stuff together so that in places where one has to clear customs/immigration physically in canada (at YEG, for instance, where it recently took mr kk and me a full HOUR to clear immigration/security) the CBP sticker on one's passport means absolutely nothing.

So get NEXUS! That is the program for canada/us, and having the nexus card allows you to bypass the line at security even on domestic canada flights (at least at Toronto that was the case). YEG has the iris scan machines, and you should be good to go. It is almost like GE, except that you actually have to fill out the customs form and hand it in.
