Hi all, I've just received my conditional approval and am hoping to use Enrollment on Arrival when I fly in to DFW next week. Any recent experiences? Most of the above seems to be in the pilot period, so I don't know whether to make a back-up appointment, or if things are going more smoothly these days. And it would be good to know if I should "run, don't walk" to immigration to beat the queues?

Only did this because Amex picked up the tab... Wife and I will be flying back from Asia in a couple of weeks to LAX. LAX is a recently added on location for enrollment on arrival so I'll report back on how it goes. |
I ended up doing mine at DtW yesterday before my flight and glad I did it instead of doing the interview upon arrival. I’ll be able to use GE when my internationalflight lands in Atlanta this way.

I thought you could only do this after you arrive to an International terminal ? How do you contact CBP from the departure side ? From CBP.gov: "U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to allow Global Entry applicants who are conditionally approved to complete their interviews upon arrival into the United States." |

I thought you could only do this after you arrive to an International terminal ? How do you contact CBP from the departure side ? If you cant schedule an appointment at the airport before your outbound you can always go to the GE appointment office and see if they can get you in. I was at the airport a half hour before my appointment and they got interviewed me five minutes later since there was no one waiting. It only took five minutes. She just took my photo, my fingerprints and asked my address (which wasnt current on my license and I had a utility bill with me but she did’t say a thing or ask for proof), where I worked, If I had been to canada or Mexico in the last five years, where I was born and if I had been arrested. She looked at a couple things on her computer and said I would be receiving an email within 24 hours (i had it within ten minutes of leaving) and explained how I could use Nexus and to make sure to update my passport on their site when it expired and gave me a small pamphlet describing GE. |

One big advantage to doing it before leaving the US is that your global entry can get approved right away and you'll be able to use it on the return into the US. If it's done upon arrival it's before leaving customs but the area in Atlanta looked like it was past the kiosk so even if it's approved on the spot, you probably won't be able to use it in DFW |

"When landing in an international terminal follow the signage directing you to CBP officers who can complete your Global Entry interview during your admissibility inspection. You won’t need any additional documents other than the requisite documents for international travel (e.g., your passport)." Which makes it sound like it should be the case that the standard agent who would typically be processing me for entry will also be able to do this. From above, I suspect it will need to be at the separate Global Entry office, which I believe is beyond baggage claim at DFW. |
I did Enrollment on Arrival at SFO early this year. The interview itself took less than a couple minutes, but I would recommend getting to immigration as quickly as possible. The agents waited for a lull in existing GE users before doing any interviews. I was first in line when I arrived, so I didn't have to wait long, but there was quite a line behind me by the time I was processed.

Just reporting back as a new Global Entry member! I was mis-directed several times, ended up going through the automatic normal kiosks and they were trying to steer me into baggage claim without talking to anyone, when someone finally understood what I was looking for, and I went to the right area (at DFW it was the other end from GE kiosks, in the "other passports" section, and the digital sign for one lane actually said "GE enrollment on arrival.") There was one person ahead of me being interviewed, I think he was having problems and was escorted somewhere else, then the agent interviewed me. Just verification of contact details, plus finger printing and photo, but it all took about 20 minutes as each step was processed on the computer. Got email shortly after and card is due in the mail in a few weeks. Was worth doing because the line out of customs was very, very long, and I was able to join the GE fast line with my new enrollment details.
