Change the "Secure Flight Information" fields in all your frequent flyer accounts to match GE. The "header" name on your airline accounts doesn't matter, it's the Secure Flight fields that they match. Also, I'm a little surprised your passport doesn't have the "Jr." because I assume your birth certificate has it, and those should match.

All of the airlines I have accounts with require that documentation be mailed or faxed to them to update the name - which frankly seems insane. |
Suffix missing from name on global entry card
Last month, I applied for Global Entry, interviewed, and received my card in the mail. To my surprise, the name of the card was missing "Jr" at the end of my last name. My GOES account, application, and all of the verification documents provided to CBP had "Jr." listed on them so I am not for sure at what point it was left off.
I e-mailed the GOES support twice about this but haven't heard back. I called the support phoneline and the agent I spoke with said that it shouldn't matter since in all the systems it shows correctly. I figured I'd give it a try. I have my KTN loaded into my travel profiles, but I do not get TSA-precheck after OLCI, likely because my airline tickets are booked with "Jr" as that is what is on all my my ID's (sans Global Entry Card). Any advice on what to do? I thought about going to my local enrollment center, but I remember there being a sign saying "NO WALK IN APPOINTMENTS"... |

The reservations were made about a week or so after I received the GE card in the mail.

Were these reservations made prior to your GE approval?

Not being from the US, I am always puzzled by the "Jr" naming convention. Do you guys actually have "Jr" written on your birth certificates?

I don't have the suffix on my GE card and it has not been a problem with pre-check. I did notice that neither my AAdvantage Account nor my sons have the suffix in our profiles any more.
From http://www.aa.com/i18n/utility/FAQs/...cureFlight.jsp Q: How should I enter the name on my reservation or AAdvantage account when it includes a title (such as "Mr.", "Dr.", "Ms.") or suffix (such as, "Jr.," "Sr.," "III," "IV") or special characters? A: A title such as "Mr." or "Dr." and name suffixes such as "Jr." or "III" do not need to be included in passenger names in reservations. If your name includes a hyphen or an apostrophe, it's OK to enter "SMITH-JONES" or "O'CONNER". When you book your reservation, it will appear as "SMITHJONES" or "OCONNER". In addition, AAdvantage members updating their name at www.aa.com/MyAccount should not input a prefix along with their first name or a suffix along with their last name. Doing so might interfere with automated mileage accrual. An apostrophe, hyphen, or spaces may be included, as needed. |
Thanks to everyone who responded.
I thought I would go ahead and close the loop on this just in case there are other Jrs out there that might stumble upon the thread in the future. The e-mail I received back from the CBP GOES support was a canned e-mail directing me to the FAQ's on the website. I did check the FAQ's again, and no my question wasn't addressed on the FAQs. Very frustrating to wait over a week and a half for an auto-reply. I did manage to get in touch with an officer by phone at the location where I enrolled. He explained to me that although JR is in their computer systems, no one has it printed on their GE cards. Case solved. I am happy to say that I've gotten TSA-precheck 8/8 times since writing my original posting. ;) |
Confusion over middle name/initial
When I had my Global Entry/Pre Check interview (Nov '13) they said to make sure that I had all my FF accounts matching my application. Since my PassPort has my full middle name that was the way I filled out the application, and so I changed my profile to include my full middle name.
I was not getting PC on my BPs, so I asked about it at the Global Entry station. They said that since my DL only had my MI that's the way PC was set up, and sinceGOES and PC are different systems your name can be different in each one. So I changed my FF Profile(s) back to MI only and I've been getting PC ever since. However, a few weeks ago my wife went in for her Global Entry interview and they told her that DL, PP, GOES and PC should all be the same. So that's the way she registered with PC. She updated her DL to have full middle name as well. Now I'm realizing she already has at least two flights booked under her MI. I know they can't change the ticketed name, and I have to assume she will not get PC on either one. But will they give her a hard time for having ID that doesn't match the BP? (the MI and full middle name are not in conflict). Further, so far I have not used GOES, but is there going to be any issue because my DL doesn't match my PP/GOES account? It's all very confusing. My guess is that either the person who told her about everything needing to match was on their first day, or she misunderstood what needed to match. |
Interesting. I also applied for GE with my full middle name, but my DL says my MI. Looks like I'll have to change my FF to just MI, from what it sounds like?
|
I'm in GE program (just renewed for another 5 years), as well as TSA Pre Check. My DL has only the initials for my first and middle name; my passport has my full first name and only my middle name's initial. This was not an issue at either interview with GE.
Since my boarding passes have my first name, mi, last name, on a few occasions when I use my DL as id, a TSA agent asked to see something with my full first name--a credit card was OK. |
I have multiple middle names and my full name does not fit on my DL so only one middle names is on there. For GE (and GE ID card) and my Passport, my entire name is on there. I just use my GE ID at the airport for domestic flights so the TSA agent doesn't get confused with my DL name being different than on the boarding pass.
I do not have an issues with GOES and my DL name being different than other IDs. |
Do you get Precheck fine?
|
From my experience, your Boarding Pass has to EXACTLY match your PreCheck account or you will not get PreCheck.
I'm GUESSING that as long as your ID has more full info than the BP you are ok there too. That is, BP made out First M Last, DL can be used if it has First Middle Last. |

For some airlines, I had to personally write to them with a copy of my global entry card in order to get my middle names to match within their system because some airlines you cannot change your name online. |
