First and middle name combined on SecureFlight info. What happens to PreCheck?
I've seen this question posed a few times on FT and varying answers in different places; would appreciate any data points from personal experience.
I booked a ticket with ThankYou points via Citi's Travel Service Center. When they transmitted that to AA, it combined my first and last name. So my OLCI reads as: First name: Firstmiddle Middle name: [Blank] Last name: Last Citi says this is standard and is a matter of how GDS transmits names or something; I've read enough similar threads to think it's pretty common. What I'm not seeing a lot of is information as to whether I'll be able to get my pre-check or not. Some people say "the info has to match exactly", which sounds reasonable to me. But I have also heard people say "it goes by KTN and as long as it's the right number you should be fine." I'd find it hard to believe that no one who has a middle name can ever get Pre when booking through Chase or Citi-type partners. What's your experience been with this? |

It won't be an issue. I've got TSA pre check with my name formatted like that 100s of times.

I am now considering just forgetting about getting PreCheck. It's just too much hassle with the multiple middle names and space in the family name. Not to mention I do not want to travel with a passport, just my drivers license.
And PreCheck is not even guaranteed. Why pay if you might not get it anyway? |
I know this was touched upon but I don't think there was an answer - I have Global Entry and my GE profile was registered with the suffix used on my passport, "Jr."
I never use it unless needed for official "what's on your passport/birth certificate?" questions. Thusly I have an upcoming flight and the reservation does not have Jr in my reservation (I didn't add it). Any chance I don't get pre-check because the ticket is missing the suffix while my GE profile is registered with it? Thanks |

FirstNameMI LastName (mine) FirstNameMiddleName LastName (my wife's) We have never yet not gotten PreCheck. However, our experience is definitely not as extensive - probably flown less than 75 times since getting Global Entry/PreCheck. I think the "must match exactly" is more along the lines of: Michael <> Micheal Shawn <> Shaun Michelle <> Michele etc. |
Just to confirm what people basically said would happen, the "Firstmiddle Last" did not keep me from getting Precheck. It saved us a TON of time at MSP in what would have been probably an 80 minute security wait, so very grateful for that...

TSA Known Traveler Number not on Boarding Passes
Wife and I got TSA numbers earlier this year. We added our numbers to our AAdvantage accounts. We each had a few AA flights since then, and it's hit or miss whether the "TSA Precheck" stamp appears when we print the boarding pass.
We called AA when we didn't see TSA Precheck on the boarding pass. They look it up and they confirm our TSA number is indeed associated with our reservation. They have no idea why it didn't print. They can't issue a new boarding pass over the phone, because we already checked in and printed the first one. They merely suggest we re-check-in in person before the flight and an airport agent can fix it. One agent said it was because one of our trips was booked through my job's travel agent...but this is not consistent, because I used the same agent earlier, and the Precheck stamp was printed on my boarding pass. Plus, my TSA number is logged into my agent's account as well. So at LAX, the line at check-in is a mile long, and the non-Precheck security is even longer. Which long line to wait in? We waited for the check-in line. Agent re-issued boarding pass with the Precheck stamp on it. She notes that this happens ALL the time, and they don't know why. What are your experiences with this? Before I click "Print" on my boarding pass, how do I know that my TSA stamp will appear on it? |
I think you need to give more info.. How did you get your TSA number? Is it through global entry or another program? What itinerary are you flying on? Domestic only? International?

Like I said, the AA agent at checkin said this happens all the time and she fixed it in 2 seconds. But having to stand in that line just to get a reprinted boarding pass? Uggg. |
