There are two pool areas in the hotel. The SPA pool is located in the basement.

The pool isn't really big and isn't suitable for swimming, but it's a nice place to relax. It was empty during my visit. Unfortunately, the pool closes at 6 p.m., which is a bit inconvenient for people who are out and about during the day and not just hanging around the hotel.

The second pool area is located in the clubhouse, so you have to walk outside.

Shower

Sauna and Steam Room

The pool itself is large, and there is also an area with water loungers.

We could have ordered something, but no one came.

The casual dining restaurant is located in the Carriage House, which also serves as a golf club.

There is a slightly more elegant restaurant

However, dinner is mainly served in the conservatory.

The menu

Let's say it right away, the service was nothing to write home about. We ordered a bottle of non-alcoholic wine, which we are still waiting for today. At least the mocktails arrived, albeit with the appetizer.

Bread and butter

The whole way of serving the food was very American, and I mean that in the worst possible way. No sooner have you sat down and ordered than the first course is in front of you, followed by the appetizer. In France or Italy, the restaurant would probably be stormed, or at least lead to a wave of protests.
Celery Soup

Pan seared Irish Scallops - Cape Malay curry sauce, kataifi prawn, pickled mustard seeds, seaweed salad, rice crackers

Both tasted good, there was no complaint there.
The main course followed at breakneck speed.
Hake Kiev - Wild garlic butter, caviar beurre blanc, baby spinach, herb oil

Very good taste and delicious.
Fish and Chips - Beer battered cod, minted green peas, tartare saucem chunky chips

Also good.
Strawberry & Pistachio - Strawberry mousse, pistachio crmeux, crumble & ice cream

Solid
Rice pudding - Sultanas, pouring cream

A rice puddingquick and easy to make at home, here in the 15 version. But we were hungry for it.
The bill

The food wasn't bad in terms of taste, but the room was cold, the food was served quickly and without care, and the whole thing lacked any style. You really don't feel like paying 170 for that. It's just no fun. After the meal, I really thought about whether I would go back there again.

Breakfast was served in the Gallery in the morning. It is a 40-meter-long hall with old oak elements, which is quite impressive.

The menu

My absolute favorites are the water for an extra charge or the morning cocktails (is that already a form of alcoholism?).
The buffet

The ordering options were OK, the quality was not exceptional, at least considering Adare Manor's own standards.

One morning we were particularly lucky. A family of four was sitting next to us. While the girl behaved reasonably well, the boy couldn't sit still for a minute. He was constantly making a fuss. At one point, he was fidgeting so much in his chair that he tipped it over. His parents didn't seem to care much, but I would have gotten an earful from my parents if I had behaved like that, and I'm very grateful for that. If I had been seated next to that brat again, I wouldn't have accepted the seat. At least our neighbors had found a solution to the water problem, as their legacy shows.

At least they were generous to the staff and left $20 on the table. Unfortunately, they forgot to leave us compensation for pain and suffering.

Hunt Museum Limerick
After breakfast, we headed to Limerick. The city's most famous museum is the Hunt Museum.

The collection has a bit of everything. There are also some very beautiful pieces in the collection, but the museum is not particularly exceptional by continental European standards. In Ireland, things are a little different.

What a beautiful and delicious trip through the Emerald Isle you've blessed us with! This is trip reporting at its finest, offerendum. Thank you so much for a truly stellar effort!
Oh - and that room at the Adare? I'd take that in a heartbeat! Much nicer than my standard accommodations...

Limerick Cathedral
Next, we crossed a tributary of the Shannon to Saint Mary's Cathedral.

Since it was Sunday, the cathedral was closed. So we had to settle for taking pictures of the exterior.

King John's Castle
King John's Castle was the next destination. It was open, and admission cost a hefty 15 euros per person.

For the price, you get an interactive exhibition.

There are a few excavations in the basement.

Medieval events are often held in the courtyard.

There is also an old part, and you can climb the towers to enjoy the view.
