Let's move on to the room. I didn't really want a huge suite for one night, but many of the suites are very "woody" or were full of antlers. In the end, I opted for the Astoria Suite, which is quite unusual with a kind of conservatory bathroom. 1,100.00 € was not really a bargain, but the new Legends Suites are above that at around 1,500.00 €, although the furnishings did not appeal to me.
The Astoria Suite is number 9.

The floor plan shown is only correct to a limited extent, as can be seen in the photos.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c0c11a5e68.jpg
The living room was quite large and also richly furnished in detail. Overall, I liked it.

I always like it when there are treats as a greeting. In that respect, Sacher is old school (in the most positive sense).
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5933ecdca7.jpg
Unfortunately, there was only one toilet, but it was separate and there was a decent dressing area opposite.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cb81b33010.jpg
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9b25ae8e90.jpg
The bedroom with the bed was nice to look at, but unfortunately the bed was not very comfortable. I also didn't like the quality of the blankets.

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...825e6614c6.jpg
The bathroom was quite something, even if it was almost too sunny.

The hotel is always praised for its view. Nice without question, although Elmau (to stay in the area), for example, is in a different league.

The failure of the dessert was not quite so dramatic, because there is cake or strudel every day in the afternoon in the lobby.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5b462bc2a9.jpg
4 cakes were a good selection, but the quality did not fully convince me. For only €8.90 per piece, there is also the original Sachertorte, what a bargain. Personally, I don't have particularly positive memories of the original Sachertorte. But since it is regularly served at the breakfast buffet in the Sacher hotels, I should try it again.

You have already seen the main part of the outdoor pools in the photos of the room view. There is an indoor pool from which you can swim outside.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...82125ef878.jpg
Besides 3 pools outside, there is a natural swimming lake, but it was freezing cold. I didn't take many photos here because there were people lolling around next to practically every pool and I didn't want to bother them.

In the evening, the Sacher offers a 7-course menu as part of half board, and there is always a gala evening with evening dress on Saturdays. It was Friday, so the Stresemann could stay at home. Apart from that, every room has its own table, also kind of old school.
The restaurant is quite rustic. There are a few antlers hanging on the wall, where the animal is guaranteed not to have survived. The skull is still attached. Ugly as hell. But let's move on to the menu.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d80b1dff0d.jpg
If you look, you can only see 6 gears. The seventh is a sorbet, which is available on request.
It started with the "Tyrolean starter buffet", ultimately quite a lot of sausage, but we also found something.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2f290ec399.jpg
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6300bf2d16.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4dccda5bcf.jpg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e393a64315.jpg
Next up for us was cream soup of Zillertal mountain cheese, unfortunately the photo was a total failure.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6d1a0f764d.jpg
The soup was very strong, but I thought it was good.
Next came the salad buffet. Actually the same as at lunchtime, only set up opposite. I had the feeling that most people skipped it or took something together with the starters.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...85590eccd6.jpg
Now there was the sorbet, I mean it was pear. Anyway, it was really delicious.
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c20792cd2c.jpg
The main course was roasted filet of Leutasch char with spinach leaves and dill potatoes.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f87cd34728.jpg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...86b5198661.jpg
Solid.
Dessert was either forest berries, curd cheese and poppy seeds or a curd cheese dumpling with plums and breadcrumbs.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c2661f6fc4.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c5fb758ca1.jpg
We took one of each, the curd dumpling was the better choice.
Finally, we went for cheese. Apart from the fact that it was partly wrongly signposted, a good selection.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4fd04f4233.jpg
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...61457daed9.jpg
The Sacher always emphasises that it has a "gourmet kitchen". In fact, they even have 2 Gault Millau toques. I personally found the dinner good, but not outstanding. In any case, you don't go to your room hungry.

Let's get to breakfast. There is a buffet and you can order as usual. The buffet is quite rich, of course there is also Sachertorte.

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...24b9db242a.jpg
All in all, a good breakfast, although nothing particularly sticks in my mind now. I would say "normal".
But now for the famous Sachertorte (mention the special plates), where you pay €8.90 for a piece outside of breakfast.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d53e46a0e0.jpg
I suspect that Sacher now makes more money with this than with the hotels. But what is it like? If I were evil, I would say the cream is for "edibility". It's not my taste at all. Totally oversweetened and not tasty. I really don't need it. Apart from that, the rice is always explained with the particularly high-quality ingredients and the handmade production. The latter should be a matter of course in a confectionery, as should the good ingredients. In any case, I will never buy a piece or even a whole cake.

So what was it like at the Sacher? For the one night, it was mainly well located and from the hotel point of view, it wasn't bad either. We had a good meal in the evening and a snack. However, if I were to spend a longer holiday in the area, I would prefer Schloss Elmau, which is not too far away. I liked it better.
At this point, I'd like to add a little titbit. The battery in my car (a hybrid) was flat when I arrived. No wonder, the capacity is quite limited at 17.7 KW. I asked them to charge it for me. Charging costs at Sacher, which is generally OK. When I checked out, I was charged 35.00 €, which is about 2 € per KW. A very proud price. Maybe they charge by time, but then it would only make sense with a car that can really "suck" something. My 7.2 KW charger is not the right one. I would have preferred to drive for 2 hours in charging mode or (it charges even better there) in Sport Plus mode. That would have been cheaper and I would still have had fun. By the way, I didn't discuss it, it's useless anyway and only costs time. After all, Italy was waiting;)

Before heading towards the Benner Pass, which I do not like very much, we stopped in Seefeld. It's quite a nice place, but certainly not a destination of longing.

Trento - Piazza del Duomo

After getting over the Brenner Pass, which is one big construction site, we reached Italy. Our first stop in Italy was Trento. We parked in the centre and first saw the back of the bishop's palace.

At the end of Via Rodolfo Belenzani is the church of San Francesco Saverio. Built at the beginning of the 18th century for the Jesuit order by Andrea Pozzo, it incorporates a medieval building still visible in the alley and the Torre Costede as a bell tower. The interior is Baroque.
