Back in the land of longing
Ciao e benvenuto!
After last year's absence of a holiday in Italy, this year we wanted to return to the land of longing. From the beginning, it was clear that this time I wanted to visit Villa Feltrenelli and Il Pellicano. In between, I was looking for something for the Padua region, as I particularly wanted to fill in existing gaps in the form of Ferrara, Vicenza, Venice and also parts of Padua. Since Villa Feltrenelli in particular is in high demand, I booked in August last year, about 14 months before the intended stay. I had to take alternative dates, as the suite I preferred was occupied on the dates I had in mind. To be on the safe side, I also booked Il Pellicano in August 2022, which later turned out to be a good decision. In the meantime, the rates had doubled (the normal madness!). In the Padua region it was a bit more difficult. In the end, I decided on the Esplanade Tergesteo in Montegrotto Terme. It looked modern on the homepage, had a nice suite with jaccuzzi (more on that later) and large thermal baths. What was still open was a hotel for the outward journey and something for the way home from Porto Ercole. Here I thought about almost everything, from Milan to Andermatt to Bürgenstock to Ascona. "To make matters worse, I wanted to use my annual €200 travel voucher from American Express. On the outward journey, we finally decided to travel via the Brenner Pass instead of the Gotthard and stop off in Seefeld. We chose to stay at the Sacher Alpin Resort. There I was able to use the voucher and the rates were at about the same level as Andermatt. The main difference, however, was that half board is already included at the Sacher. I had also thought long and hard about the return trip. The newly opened Cape of Senses looked interesting but initially had a minimum stay of 3 nights. However, I only had 2 nights left because I had to be home the following day due to an appointment. Milan was also a favourite as I wanted to go to La Scala anyway, but the rates for the particular weekend were totally crazy. It must have been some fair or something in Milan. In the end, the choice fell on Lake Como. After my initial fixation on the Mandarin Oriental, the brand new Passalacqua was recommended in the luxury forum. Since I liked it very much on the homepage, I booked it spontaneously. So much for the preface, but now let's get started. |
Looking forward to this one!

Can’t wait for this one since I’m planning essentially the same trip for next year!

Sacher Alpin Reort
For our first stop, as already mentioned, we had decided on a night at the Sacher Alpin Resort in Seefeld. This is a traditional Austrian hotel that used to trade under the name Astoria. It was taken over by Elisabeth Gürtler, who has been remodelling it since 2015. Pierre-Yves Rochon, who also designed the Four Seasons George V in Paris, is responsible for the design.
Already in the lobby, it is noticeable that antlers have been used practically everywhere. One can also speak of an antler fetish. If they are all real (I didn't ask, but it looks like it), the game population of half of Austria must have been slaughtered. The front lobby part is round with cloth sheep. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...20b0dba340.jpg Behind it is a kind of living hall with the bar, note the antlered ceiling. Even the armrests of the chairs are made of antlers. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3c7a4c644e.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...90beb903d1.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...17e19999c8.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...98e91939ea.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d7a9c389ab.jpg There is a lot of old furniture in the corridors, which is all quite coherent. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...efd9fc332f.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d371dd7bed.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2bdd0ff43f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6277c03ef9.jpg It's all quite funny for a short stay. If my house was furnished like this, however, the bulky waste would definitely come pretty soon. |
What did you think of all the antlers? And sheep? Good or bad design decision?
|
Great start ... I'm along for the ride!

Great start... Just as a note, no animals need be slaughtered to obtain antlers, all antlered animals grow and shed them annually as part of the mating process. Might not change your opinion of their use in the decor, but at least can ease your mind about the local animal population :).

I've also happened to book in Paris randomly for TdF Arrivee and wanted to play golf at a course during a Tour weekend. Oh well. I looked up La Scala, it's actually quite a bit more affordable than expected, considering the Met starts at some $150. Too bad I didn't think of it earlier, 22/23 season has a lot more interesting offer for me compared to upcoming 23/24 |
Sacher Alpin Resort
Part of our rate was the Sacher pampering half board. However, half board is somewhat misleading in that there is breakfast, lunch, cake and dinner. I actually call it full board. We were lucky in that we arrived just before the end of lunch time. Since we were hungry anyway and the room was not ready yet, we went to the restaurant.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...19ca1795f3.jpg The choice at lunchtime is not huge, but it is sufficient. First there is a salad buffet and a potato soup.https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...87895769ca.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...79e67e53a3.jpg For the main course we could choose between spaghetti Bolognese or a jacket potato, we of course opted for the latter. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b3a623b84d.jpg Actually, there was another dessert of the day (no idea what it was), but it was cancelled due to the advanced time. We only had to pay for the drinks, which were generous. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8709478120.jpg Lunch is certainly nothing grandiose and I understand that it is not advertised as a full meal. Nevertheless, from my point of view, it is better than nothing and a welcome snack. |
€5.10 for a small Coke? OUCH! 😱

Sacher Alpin Resort
Let's move on to the room. I didn't really want a huge suite for one night, but many of the suites are very "woody" or were full of antlers. In the end, I opted for the Astoria Suite, which is quite unusual with a kind of conservatory bathroom. 1,100.00 € was not really a bargain, but the new Legends Suites are above that at around 1,500.00 €, although the furnishings did not appeal to me.
The Astoria Suite is number 9. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f495c2e34f.jpg The floor plan shown is only correct to a limited extent, as can be seen in the photos. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c0c11a5e68.jpg The living room was quite large and also richly furnished in detail. Overall, I liked it. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...50f3b983b5.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...63d0238a25.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...865c480868.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f7ac68db51.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b979c3aa8c.jpg I always like it when there are treats as a greeting. In that respect, Sacher is old school (in the most positive sense). https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5933ecdca7.jpg Unfortunately, there was only one toilet, but it was separate and there was a decent dressing area opposite. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cb81b33010.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9b25ae8e90.jpg The bedroom with the bed was nice to look at, but unfortunately the bed was not very comfortable. I also didn't like the quality of the blankets. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6ab83ad9c3.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...825e6614c6.jpg The bathroom was quite something, even if it was almost too sunny. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b8be78fc23.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...86a366d1ce.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fc28ca48c5.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4f6f0d8ff9.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3c92b9a703.jpg We didn't really use the balcony, the flowers had seen better days. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...87fca90c43.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0f8a0f1a65.jpg The hotel is always praised for its view. Nice without question, although Elmau (to stay in the area), for example, is in a different league. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...48497c1417.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9ad3d01566.jpg |
Sacher Alpin Resort
The failure of the dessert was not quite so dramatic, because there is cake or strudel every day in the afternoon in the lobby.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5b462bc2a9.jpg 4 cakes were a good selection, but the quality did not fully convince me. For only €8.90 per piece, there is also the original Sachertorte, what a bargain. Personally, I don't have particularly positive memories of the original Sachertorte. But since it is regularly served at the breakfast buffet in the Sacher hotels, I should try it again. |
Sacher Alpin Resort
You have already seen the main part of the outdoor pools in the photos of the room view. There is an indoor pool from which you can swim outside.
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0eb49672ec.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...82125ef878.jpg Besides 3 pools outside, there is a natural swimming lake, but it was freezing cold. I didn't take many photos here because there were people lolling around next to practically every pool and I didn't want to bother them. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d8688293cc.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4681565863.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a49461150a.jpg |
Sacher Alpin Resort
In the evening, the Sacher offers a 7-course menu as part of half board, and there is always a gala evening with evening dress on Saturdays. It was Friday, so the Stresemann could stay at home. Apart from that, every room has its own table, also kind of old school.
The restaurant is quite rustic. There are a few antlers hanging on the wall, where the animal is guaranteed not to have survived. The skull is still attached. Ugly as hell. But let's move on to the menu. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d80b1dff0d.jpg If you look, you can only see 6 gears. The seventh is a sorbet, which is available on request. It started with the "Tyrolean starter buffet", ultimately quite a lot of sausage, but we also found something. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2f290ec399.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6300bf2d16.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4dccda5bcf.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e393a64315.jpg Next up for us was cream soup of Zillertal mountain cheese, unfortunately the photo was a total failure. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6d1a0f764d.jpg The soup was very strong, but I thought it was good. Next came the salad buffet. Actually the same as at lunchtime, only set up opposite. I had the feeling that most people skipped it or took something together with the starters. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...85590eccd6.jpg Now there was the sorbet, I mean it was pear. Anyway, it was really delicious. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c20792cd2c.jpg The main course was roasted filet of Leutasch char with spinach leaves and dill potatoes. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f87cd34728.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...86b5198661.jpg Solid. Dessert was either forest berries, curd cheese and poppy seeds or a curd cheese dumpling with plums and breadcrumbs. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c2661f6fc4.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c5fb758ca1.jpg We took one of each, the curd dumpling was the better choice. Finally, we went for cheese. Apart from the fact that it was partly wrongly signposted, a good selection. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4fd04f4233.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...61457daed9.jpg The Sacher always emphasises that it has a "gourmet kitchen". In fact, they even have 2 Gault Millau toques. I personally found the dinner good, but not outstanding. In any case, you don't go to your room hungry. |
I go for the Cheeses ... the rest doesn't light my fire!

Sacher Alpin Resort
Let's get to breakfast. There is a buffet and you can order as usual. The buffet is quite rich, of course there is also Sachertorte.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...925663667f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...807ff7f100.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...27a1a8c760.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...aebf4f9f40.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d8e07ad392.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9c58e8d733.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...24b9db242a.jpg All in all, a good breakfast, although nothing particularly sticks in my mind now. I would say "normal". But now for the famous Sachertorte (mention the special plates), where you pay €8.90 for a piece outside of breakfast. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d53e46a0e0.jpg I suspect that Sacher now makes more money with this than with the hotels. But what is it like? If I were evil, I would say the cream is for "edibility". It's not my taste at all. Totally oversweetened and not tasty. I really don't need it. Apart from that, the rice is always explained with the particularly high-quality ingredients and the handmade production. The latter should be a matter of course in a confectionery, as should the good ingredients. In any case, I will never buy a piece or even a whole cake. |
Sacher Alpin Resort
So what was it like at the Sacher? For the one night, it was mainly well located and from the hotel point of view, it wasn't bad either. We had a good meal in the evening and a snack. However, if I were to spend a longer holiday in the area, I would prefer Schloss Elmau, which is not too far away. I liked it better.
At this point, I'd like to add a little titbit. The battery in my car (a hybrid) was flat when I arrived. No wonder, the capacity is quite limited at 17.7 KW. I asked them to charge it for me. Charging costs at Sacher, which is generally OK. When I checked out, I was charged 35.00 €, which is about 2 € per KW. A very proud price. Maybe they charge by time, but then it would only make sense with a car that can really "suck" something. My 7.2 KW charger is not the right one. I would have preferred to drive for 2 hours in charging mode or (it charges even better there) in Sport Plus mode. That would have been cheaper and I would still have had fun. By the way, I didn't discuss it, it's useless anyway and only costs time. After all, Italy was waiting;) |
Looking forward to the rest of your report. Sans sheep I could have mistaken the hotel decor for Texas, USA.

Trento - Piazza del Duomo
After getting over the Brenner Pass, which is one big construction site, we reached Italy. Our first stop in Italy was Trento. We parked in the centre and first saw the back of the bishop's palace.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4db217cb91.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e8b34ac861.jpg But then the magnificent Piazza del Duomo opened up. Even though construction is underway there, the square casts a spell over you. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0c94437ce4.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...686827ef05.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...54f11c8337.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1ab7db3bd1.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...75bf991eb3.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8859d728d8.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2e277b22c2.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7b68b5276b.jpg |
Trento - Via Rodolfo Belenzani
Via Rodolfo Belenzani is the boulevard of Trento with a number of beautiful palaces.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a1d5119a41.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...70d49e2020.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7b721d1272.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f87a9f4e8a.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1fc4a0de23.jpg |
La Gelateria Trento
È il momento del primo gelato!
In Trento there were no gelaterias awarded by Gambero Rosso or Dissapore, so we opted for La Gelateria in Via Rodolfo Belenzani. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8d6dfbbd27.jpg The selection looked good. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...eda203a6de.jpg The gelato was really good quality, so we were very satisfied. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...38d945df41.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...755860e6e8.jpg |
San Francesco Saverio
At the end of Via Rodolfo Belenzani is the church of San Francesco Saverio. Built at the beginning of the 18th century for the Jesuit order by Andrea Pozzo, it incorporates a medieval building still visible in the alley and the Torre Costede as a bell tower. The interior is Baroque.

Santa Maria Maggiore Trento
The Renaissance church of Santa Maria Maggiore was built at the beginning of the 16th century and was an important meeting place of the Council of Trent.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...05cc4d4fae.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cd7c6e26a2.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...06909fd57e.jpg Inside, much of the original state is still preserved; you can recognise the church in the old paintings of the Council. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4d3ff3b751.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...546c9ede59.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...63178f73ff.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...414b81fcd1.jpg |
Diocesan Museum Trento
Right next to the cathedral is the Diocesan Museum. The museum is not particularly large, but there is the usual range of exhibits for such a museum. It is definitely worth a visit.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...464ed44560.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f319bbf5c2.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fb971d5bfa.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...509d2b1d65.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...83a013b1ae.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...b703c12b2a.jpg |
Duomo Trento
The last stop was the Cathedral of San Vigilio, the main site of the Council of Trento, which we had already seen from the outside. It is a building on the border between Romanesque and Gothic.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bc97912954.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...29fddbee73.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6d49b8e4f3.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7b70ac6ce4.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bcc1357a86.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d95bafcc16.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...96f08626d7.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fd00128109.jpg Outside there is still a bust of the saint and a beautiful portal. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...86bf5c1b30.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...fcd4928202.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1d2f0697de.jpg |
Villa Feltrenelli
One of the main aims of this holiday was to finally stay at Villa Feltrenelli. After a failed attempt last year due to lack of availability, I booked in August last year. Once again, however, my preferred suite was no longer available on the dates I had chosen. In the end it was 4 days in the One Bedroom Suite "Gelsomino" in the Casa dei Fiori, the Park Cottage. I chose this suite because it has a separate living room and bedroom. The description also sounded good:
"80 square metres/861 square feet, Accommodates up to two persons, King size bed Living room, Private covered patio This luxurious One Bedroom suite, ideal for a quiet and cosy retreat, has its own private covered patio of 50 sqm overlooking the Villa's beautiful gardens and lake beyond. A large living room leads to a superb master bedroom with a small private patio. A generous wardrobe area lies adjacent to the luminous bathroom adorned with flower tiles, a deep soaking porcelain bathtub and separate large shower." However, booking Villa Feltrenelli is quite special. As far as I can see, it is impossible to book it online. It is not a member of Virtuoso. The only option is to enquire at the hotel's own reservation desk, where you can get more information about the room categories, availability and prices. I actually wanted to book through Harper because they offer at least a few perks, essentially a $100 credit. In the end, however, I booked direct for the sake of simplicity, as the $100 doesn't make much difference. Here are the rates and prices for 2023: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9df2be0c9a.jpg I ended up paying €2,000.00 plus a €200.00 service charge. Our navigation system took us down a crazy route to the villa, it said it would be a great idea to simply drive through the beautifully narrow Gargnano and then recommend driving the wrong way round through a one-way street. My car seems to like adventure, me less so. So I had to ignore the constant requests to turn round and find my own way. When I arrived at my destination, I first drove past the entrance, which is easy to miss. Eventually, however, I found myself in front of the not exactly generously sized gate. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5ef6085350.jpg I have one small point of criticism here. In wind and weather (it sometimes rains at Lake Garda) you have to get out of the car and ring the bell. Here it would be much better to have a request contact, see if you know the car and simply open it. We then took a narrow path to the really pretty villa. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f6a02fe9b2.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...2d0697df46.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...69ca35025f.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4f282da99b.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...976621a27f.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e6a9532ca5.jpg The reception there was exemplary. GF was greeted with a bouquet of flowers https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6887516bc5.jpg and everything else went very well. We were given a tour of the villa and then took a golf cart to Casa Dei Fiori. I could have walked (and always did afterwards), but that's what they like to insist on. |
Villa Feltrenelli
Let's go to the suite then. It covers the entire ground floor of Casa Dei Fiori.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ffffd0ac1a.jpg In addition to a small terrace with 2 sun loungers, the suite also has a large, covered terrace with a seating area and dining table. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...534bd06f99.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...127d6fdc2e.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...881ca219c7.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3a2fa2661a.jpg But then come on in. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...66a6429747.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7e88f7ab6e.jpg After passing through a double door, you find yourself in the living room. Sufficiently large and individually furnished. OK, it's not really modern and the furniture probably wouldn't last too long in my flat at home, but it's absolutely perfect for a hotel. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6b7b066fa6.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...eb4705b827.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9b8138797b.jpg The bedroom was also a good size with a very comfortable bed and a good sized make-up corner. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1601476f10.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...851cd328cc.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...03f4daec3c.jpg The cupboard area was also good. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f735f3a6ad.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...c78e12f4c0.jpg I'm slightly ambivalent about the bathroom. Undoubtedly big enough with a large shower and bathtub. But unfortunately the toilet was not separate (there was no guest toilet anyway) and there was only one washbasin. Even if the "built-in" soap dish isn't really my cup of tea, the tiles were undoubtedly high quality and we thought they looked nice. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8ac6806402.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6b7f34d483.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0c8da2a574.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6a85440cc4.jpg Overall I liked the suite, we were very satisfied. By the way, the turndown was also interesting. There was a rose on the bed, a lit candle and the toilet was prepared - a very high standard. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ca10abe4a0.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...da1a3e2388.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0105a8b095.jpg And finally: The Casa by night. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...69f4ad56e7.jpg |
Villa Feltrenelli
There was no kettle with tea bags in the room. But as GF loves tea, we asked for one. When we got back to the room, what was on offer far exceeded our expectations. In addition to a kettle, we were given 2 silver teapots, tea water and 3 types of high-quality loose tea.

Villa Feltrenelli
Villa Feltrenelli is located in a park with direct access to the lake. There are plenty of seating options in the park, so you can feel at home here.

To be honest, it's nothing special, but it's pleasantly heated and of course has a fantastic view. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...58b68dc86e.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...df7721e672.jpg Some joker then thought he had to take off with the Hili from the garden of the villa. First, everything got mixed up when the stupid thing landed, then at the start. It doesn't have to be like that..... https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...57f6ef95e9.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...92bdc3e7fe.jpg |
Villa Feltrenelli
Lake Garda is lemon country, and lemons have always been grown in Limonaias. I saw in a report that there was only one working limonaia left on Lake Garda. I think that's nonsense, there are still quite a few, even if a large number no longer seem to be used for agricultural purposes. But what does that have to do with Villa Feltrenelli? Quite simply, Villa Feltrenelli also has its own Limonaia.

A cool idea. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...7e5c7c9a55.jpg |
Villa Feltrenelli Dinner
Villa Feltrenelli has a restaurant that has been awarded 2 Michelin stars. Whilst I think this is a good thing, for some it may have the disadvantage that there is no "casual" dining option in the hotel. You can basically eat anywhere in the villa, but it's essentially centred around the dining room and terrace.
The nice thing is that you don't have to make a reservation here, hotel guests are always welcome. We opted for a table in the main restaurant on the first evening. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f4b92f52f0.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...33c72f5738.jpg For the meal, we opted for the tasting menu, which costs €250.00 per person. Even without wine, but with the 10 % service charge, this quickly adds up to € 600.00. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos of the menu and I can't remember what everything was in detail. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...883e5e119a.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...bc2b41fe4b.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3fa0c105aa.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...d33085b9fd.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...24e866f06b.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...0ed4fb755a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...47c53017c5.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4cf0aa055a.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...a836d5401b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8badfe34c2.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...067c519e86.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ebab2ad94d.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4d4d0df4e2.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...5799d62f0e.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...9a38d0c28a.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ff3c864dd4.jpg The dishes were all good, but not totally exceptional. Personally, I wouldn't have been bothered if the restaurant had been awarded a star. Afterwards we had one last dessert, which I particularly remember. It was some kind of cream with a slightly salty biscuit and dehydrated capers. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8bce75079d.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6b3c1e8d03.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...8f8c20b726.jpg Does that taste good? Clear answer: no. To be honest, it was inedible for us, a complete disaster. Overall, with the exception of the last dessert, the food was good, but I wouldn't go to Villa Feltrenelli just for the food. |
Villa Feltrenelli
A few pictures of the villa at night would probably fit in here.

250 sounds a bit too much, but I suppose it's a Garda surcharge? Does the restaurant offer views?
