In the evening we decided to try the star menu this time. This time we sat on the terrace. It's beautiful, but unfortunately it was swarming with mosquitoes. I even caught one on my face and unfortunately we each had several bites on our faces. It really wasn't very funny, I wouldn't sit outside again.

But it's probably a good thing that I don't have staff like that. Porto Ercole
Of course, we also wanted to visit the historic centre of Porto Ercole. The old town is car-free, so we parked outside. First the view.

When it opened shortly before, the hotel was criticised for the fact that you could easily pay €2000 per night for a 20 sqm room. Prices are now a little lower, but it is still quite expensive. Whether this is still normal or looks like a dream resort is up to you. La Rocca is an old fortress, but we were unable to visit it. It probably serves as a residential complex. Some of the other fortresses on the island can be visited, but only until the end of September.

Wow! That’s a heck of a price for two dishes of pasta. I really dislike the whole concept of a room service surcharge, just feels like gouging. Me sitting in a restaurant is going to consume more staff effort than them dumping a tray in my room.
