Looking forward to another extended holiday to the US once we are allowed to leave Australia!
Thank you very much jakeau. Hopefully, you'll be able to travel internationally again soon.

Thanks wakesetter93. Indeed, the Western US is amazingly vast. And nice to see those 80 mph speed limits to make the trek a little quicker.

The final stretch to Denver

The next morning in the lobby.

And breakfast area.

After a refuel at even lower gas prices, we're back on I-70 for the last three hours.

Now this was cool, but apparently the closest I'll get to long-haul trains with Mrs. SFO777.

Past my favorite Colorado ski area...

11,158 feet elevation...

And finally Denver, on Route 6.

Across town to Glendale and The Residence Inn Cherry Creek, just four blocks from our apartment.

Our home for the next four days and nights.

After we settled in, we headed across the parking lot for an early dinner at a familiar place we'd been to a few times when we lived here before.

Down in the lobby the next morning...

Breakfast back in the room.

The room across from us.

Apparently, Stefanie was too lazy to toss her trash in the large trash can at the end of the hall. Let's see how long this stays here.

We got the keys to our new apartment this morning so we were able to unload both cars with boxes of personal items, food and liquids that the movers wouldn't take. A little later, lunch from Whole Foods.

And then dinner at Hillstone Cherry Creek.

Next morning, today's Residence Inn breakfast.

And yes, Stefanie's trash is still there.

Off to our apartment again this morning to organize a little more, and stops at Whole Foods, King Soopers and Safeway.

Then to True Food Kitchen to pick up dinner to take over to SFO777Jr and family.

And the first in person visit at our new grand-daughter. Awwww.

Back at the Residence Inn for the night and breakfast the next morrning.

Still there the next morning. You go Stefanie. Apparently housekeeping wants no part of this as well.

Off to the apartment for a while and then lunch next door to the Residence Inn.

Yummy.

And back to the apartment where I spent quality time trying to figure out Xfinity. So easy a caveman can do it. Right.

For dinner tonight, we sampled another restaurant adjacent to the Residence Inn.

Sushi Kai, an odd combination of Japanese and Mongolian food.

Despite the odd combo, the food was very good.

Next morning, mercifully our final morning here.

One more stop at Home Depot.

And back to the apartment to meet the movers, who delivered what had not gone to storage.

Oy, what a mess.

Our first dinner in our new home. Still looking for plates and wine glasses.

Take away from North Italia.

The next morning, settling in.

Since much of our furniture was too large for an apartment, it went into storage. And replaced by smaller scale stuff. I discovered Wayfair and ordered a few things forgetting that assembly was not as simple as I thought. The big box is balcony furniture.

OMG, you have to be kidding? No wonder the prices are so cheap.

But a little more than two hours later, voila.

Everyday we make progress and in another week or so, it may feel like home. And then in a few months, we can start house hunting and prep for yet another move.

Congrats on completing the trek! I know you're excited to get settled (if just for a little while). The look on the Mrs' face says it all

Our oldest son moved to Denver last year, and we are threatening to move to be near him. Perhaps we will be neighbors. Ha! We now know where to dine when in Denver thanks to your trip report.

SFO777 i'm surprised you havent tried living in Florida yet...relatively similar weather to CA, no state income tax, great restaurants and shopping and much cheaper COL than CA.

The only similarities here IMO are that neither get exceedingly cold. Otherwise, I'd say the weather is vastly different in FL than CA, at least for half the year. FL is much more humid and the summer as I'm sure you know are brutal whereas coastal CA stays pretty pleasant most of the year with the exception of the brief periods of Santa Ana winds which heat things up.

Not saying you're wrong about FL in any other regard, but for a Californian, they would likely find the summer here pretty unbearable.

You seemed to have missed the reason for moving.

Amazing trip report as always! Glad to see some things on FlyerTalk do not change. Now that I'm back to traveling again, I'm excited to catch up on your shenanigans. Hopefully, everyone leaving Orange County makes Newport Beach just cheap enough for me to move back for when the Mrs. Chiffy starts Grad school at UCI. Scottsdale is nice but I miss the ocean no matter how crazy California gets.

Sorry for the delay in responding to all. It's been a busy two months.

Thanks very much wakesetter93. We've been here two months and I'm actually enjoying apartment living... and being so close to great restaurants, shopping...

Thanks sonomawine. We're enjoying being back... all except the timid (or stoned) drivers that believe you must drive 5 mph BELOW the speed limit. Sheesh.

Florida is indeed attractive.... but only half the year. There is no way we could put up with that summer heat and humidity.

LOL. Indeed.

Thanks so much El_Chiflero. OC and the OC weather were great, but it was time to move on.

Congrats seat38a. We've just starting looking around for the right suburb and really like the feel of Littleton. Nice homes, nice areas and still close to the city. Let me know when you've settled in. We can celebrate our escape from Gov. Gruesome.
