Thanks, Fliar, great to share my travel experiences with everyone here
.
Thank you, tedcruz
. Erbil is quite an interesting city too, must have been hot in July though
.
Many thanks, RumPatrol
. Glad to give you a glimpse of the Iraq on the ground and hopefully some opportunities for off the beaten travel too

.I am living my life vicariously through your beautiful trip reports DanielW. I think telling my wife I wanted to travel from Baghdad to Basra would be more dangerous than actually traveling from Baghdad to Basra. I had a hard enough time convincing her to do parts of Africa with me.
I can't tell if having her read your trip reports is better or worse for my chances of getting her to some of the more off the beaten path places, but it might be worth a shot!

. It was a wonderful trip with a great bunch of people.Thank you, DreamTrip
. Yes, so much history and such friendly people too, despite all the recent issues.
. Baghdad ha dbeen on my travel radar for quite a while so was great to finally visit. Many thanks, Madone59
. It was great to see a very different part of the Middle East.
. We didn't see any anti-western or anti-Israel propaganda. I did see an amusing cartoon of Donald Trump painted on a blast wall in Basra though
. We didn't see any other western tourists, they only number a few hundred a year.

Another fascinating trip report, Daniel
It's nice to see here (and read in various sources) about relative stability and normality returning to Iraq, after such a long period of chaos and violence.
So where's next on your list of exotic places to visit?

Great report as always Daniel. Appreciate the time you put into these. It's really fascinating to see the country in reality, how the people live, what they eat, where they hang out. Unfortunately, when we hear of Iraq, we only hear about the conflicts. In reality, the country has an amazingly rich history, and we got to experience that a bit through your eyes. Thanks!

. Yes, the south is relatively safe at the moment, apart from the odd bombing, and even those seem to be reducing in frequency. Next TR is to the little 'country' of Transnistria

. There has been alot of turmoil over the last 15+ years but hopefully things settle down now with some relative normalcy returning.
. It felt a little tense in the north near Samarra with the milita's in control etc., but south of Baghdad felt relatively benign.

Another amazing journey and trip report. Did you think about bringing your drone or do you think it wouldn't be allowed? Cant wait for your next adventure.
