Dropping Hunnybear off at LAX---ouch!
I got an extra few days with Hunnybear because of the terrorist attacks but today she had to return to Lansing. We left three hours before flight time from our apartment, 10 minutes from LAX.
The north entrance to LAX from Sepulveda was closed completely. The Century entrance was closed to private cars. All private cars were directed to Lot B, about two miles east of the airport. It took 20 minutes to get to the lot. Once we entered it we found a huge line of passengers waiting for shuttle buses back to the airport.
A policeman said he thought the line was a half-hour but we saw no buses at all and didn't trust it. Instead we called a cab and asked the driver to meet us at the Sheraton. It was unnecessary since there were several cabs waiting at the hotel plus the shuttle bus.
Hunnybear took a $5 cab ride just to be safe. There was not much of a line at the NW Gold checkin. They checked her ID at the base of the escalator and there was a 10-minute line at security. She said X-ray screening was as usual.
I would advise NOT dropping off or picking up anyone at LAX for the near future.

I was thinking of taking my first Blue Line to the Green Line trip this Thursday afternoon and wait for the bus. Maybe I will call a cab from the Aviation Station into the airport. Hopefully, security will get me through fast enough to enjoy a few drinks at the PC before my flight. Now I have to have a ticket to enjoy the free drinks!

QL, they are also letting people get dropped off from the C lot, from my understanding. Though I don't know where the B lot is, the C lot isn't far. In fact, when I have to park there, I will usually just walk to the terminal rather than waiting for the bus. Kind of makes me wonder if you could walk to the airport anymore.

The situation at LAx is only going to get worse as operations return to normal. Lots B & C only have 2 exit lanes each, and the system they use to determine you fee is not based on the ticket, but you license plate. They actually go through the lot each night and record license numbers and use that to track. Apparently they once had people swap tickets. As a result, especially at night, the people in the booth have to get out and take a look at your plate before they can calculate your total. Not exactly the best system, even late at night it can take upwards of 45 minutes to get out, even worse after a long holiday weekend.
