Dropping Hunnybear off at LAX---ouch!
I got an extra few days with Hunnybear because of the terrorist attacks but today she had to return to Lansing. We left three hours before flight time from our apartment, 10 minutes from LAX.
The north entrance to LAX from Sepulveda was closed completely. The Century entrance was closed to private cars. All private cars were directed to Lot B, about two miles east of the airport. It took 20 minutes to get to the lot. Once we entered it we found a huge line of passengers waiting for shuttle buses back to the airport.
A policeman said he thought the line was a half-hour but we saw no buses at all and didn't trust it. Instead we called a cab and asked the driver to meet us at the Sheraton. It was unnecessary since there were several cabs waiting at the hotel plus the shuttle bus.
Hunnybear took a $5 cab ride just to be safe. There was not much of a line at the NW Gold checkin. They checked her ID at the base of the escalator and there was a 10-minute line at security. She said X-ray screening was as usual.
I would advise NOT dropping off or picking up anyone at LAX for the near future.
