They take the "cost" right out of your comps. Bally's takes $8 of comps for a pack - they aren't free.

@ Venetian/Palazzo, as long as you are Grazie Gold (which, isn't too difficult to do) you can get a pack every few hours (as a discretionary comp). So, I stock up on Dunhill Reds, because I can.

Or maybe he (she) did but chose to do the right thing - encourage you to quit smoking!

Mods, please delete this thread as it promotes a clearly harmful (and possibly illegal, if the reader is under age) activity that we should not promote in any way. FT is about air travel, more generally about sharing travel experiences and opinions or even "OMNI topics", but not about advertising cigarette prices.

Actually please don't, 25% of the US population are smokers, like it or not this IS related to travel as it centers around the purchase a product while traveling.

Your post and now mine, are off topic.

Why not put international prices up too?

E.g. Luckies (my brand)
Germany: €3.90 / Pack of 17 / fixed price
England: £5.80+ (20) depending on store.
Spain: €2.65 (fixed)

Well than apparently it's cheaper to buy duty free cigarettes on a BA flight (£19.50 / carton) than after arrival in CA, right?

That actually reminds of my plan on doing a 'cigarette run' instead of a mileage run... :-)

15 Cartons is pretty much the explainable legal limit within the EU (own consumption / not smuggling). Those (calculating 200/carton) would cost 397.50 in spain or 688.20 in Germany... so taking a 40 Ryanair flight could turn out saving me quite a bit of money...

I have been getting my cigarettes whenever I travel to Argentina. I thought the locally produced Marlboro Light was a bargain at around $13 a carton. Until last week when I went to the Philippines, theirs came out to about $8 a carton. They have imported Marlboro too (from Switzerland I think), but they cost a lot more. I couldn't tell the difference between the local ones and the ones I got here in the states.

Some would say that about mileage runs and how they hurt the environment..

back to topic, I used to buy smokes down in NC and SC for friends when I drove truck. A carton was about 1/3 of the price in MN. Its been about 5 years, so I don't know if its still the same

Russia has very cheap cigarettes (but personally I can't stand the taste of the tobacco here, and buy them duty free when I'm in Europe and bring em here) It's $1-1.50 a pack for Marlboros, or about $12 a carton.

Around 15 years ago someone gave me a pack of Aeroflot branded cigarettes with a TU-134 on it.

Nasty! I shouldve left the pack unopened.
