World Cigarette Prices

I wanted to start a thread as a smoker who constantly has to decide if it would be cheaper to pre-purchase my trips worth of smokes, or buy them on site. It would be nice to have somewhere to go (by searching for the title) and being able to get an idea of that smokes costs in each state.

Please only post prices or deals or places to go, this isn't about whether or not to smoke, or the other common topics discussed when someone brings up smoking. Prices and deal talk only!

United States -

CA - Carton High $30's to Mid $40's (Fire Safe)
CT - Carton $60's
FL - Carton Low $30's

MI - Carton Mid to high $40's
MO - Carton High $20's
NC - Carton Low $30's

Hopefully you will find a state with the cheapest taxes, and can toke up! Research shows that smokers are actually a lesser burden on the healthcare system, since y'all die before you can get too expensive to care for.

I usually end up buying a carton of Marlboro Lights for my dad wherever I travel.

NYC, Boston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles prices tend to be higher than those in Miami, Houston, or Chicago. I'm sure it has a lot to do with taxes.

My dad usually drives to Pennsylvania once in a while to stock up on cigs because they're siginificantly cheaper, even after wasting a bunch of gas.

Connecticut is about $60.00USD. I travel alot so all my ciggarettes are bought in duty free shops at the airport. NA and Europe duty free are about $35.00USD S. America and Asia are under $20.00USD.

If I did not travel international monthly for business I think I would buy a fully refundable international ticket every few months and still stock up in duty free.

I live in Illinois across the river from St. Louis. Illinois runs $35+ tax per carton, Missouri around $26+ tax. Quik Trip always has good prices. Cheapest country I've found is Mexico ;)

the I95 cottage industry is running cigaretts up from NC,SC, and VA to NY,NJ. the industry flourishes from the differential in state taxes.

Cheapest I can get them for in NYC is $8/pack, and that's a small convenience store in the middle of Queens. If you come here, bring your own stash. It's possible to get black market smokes for around $5/pack, but I'm not personally connected.

If I were smart, I'd buy my squares online, but that would require forethought and such. Pretty much the entire NE US is pricey, although NH isn't too bad, nor is PA, as previously mentioned. I generally pay $7 just outside of NYC, and $9-$10 in the city.

The SE is always cheaper, ranging from $3-$6 a pack, in my experience.

It really doesn't matter, though, as if I need a pack, I'm prepared to pay whatever to satisfy my craving, and to avoid killing anyone...:D

Depending on how you work the players club in a LAS casino you can get them comped, but looking at these prices reminds me that I’m glad I quit 3 years ago.

When I was commuting back and forth from Charlotte to Ohio a couple years ago, my routine was to hit the gas station on the way to the airport for cartons of Marlboro Lights, Winston Lights, and Newports....all were in the $26-$29 range whereas here in Ohio they were about $35. Now Ohio has jumped up to $42-ish ($48 for the Newports) so it would be an even better deal. Alas, no longer doing that run.

But in Virginia last month for vacation, I saw that as we entered the northern part of the state, all three brands were in the $27-$30 range. Outside of major cities prices were similar, but once we got into Norfolk and Virginia Beach, we were back in "captive audience" territory and prices were in the $45/carton or $5/pack range.

I had no idea how expensive cigarettes had gotten in the US, last time I can remember buying a pack it was $4 something in NJ, now apparently they are $6 something (south Jersey) I got a couple of cartons for my friend in VA and they were $3.69 and similar price in DE,. In the UK they must be more than $13 by now but I dont buy cigarettes as I smoke rolling tobacco and go everywhere with my own stash

Living on the border, I buy my smokes for $21.00 a carton at the UETA.
Some of my fellow smokers buy online a brand called sandia for $16.00 a carton.
