That's the good thing about AAA coverage - it's on the member, not on the car! As long as the AAA member is in the car (even if it's your buddy's car on the way to the game or fishing) and the car needs AAA, it's covered! ^

And all the other travel benefits are bonuses!

In the New York area, I've found their thrid party vendors to be unresponsive and their "no hassle" buying program to be "no bargain" as well with the last dealer quoting me the MSRP on a Honda. For pure road service, there are several other auto services that perform as well either through motor clubs or through the dealership.

I have not needed AAA emergency services in years, and its been a while since I owned a vehicle without emergency roadside coverage. Nonetheless AAA adds peace of mind.

Whether or not one can find deeper discounts, I find the hotel and car rental discounts AAA provides to be attractive enough that I often take the rate and save the search time.

I also use them for maps and passport photos.
