Why is it...??
Was on a few NWA flights recently and had something happen more than once. When it came time to board all FC passengers were allowed to board first as usual. As many of us do, we roam around the gate waiting for that GO word and poof take off for the GA to scan our BP. Two times men felt that by appearance I guess, that I was not worthy to go FC so proceeded to cut in front of me and others, once being a sharp looking lady.
Why is it that some PE's or upgraders feel like THEY are the only ones important enough to go first and you had better not get in their way. Probably the same ones that do get on first, have an aisle seat and do not want to get up to let you in.
I have other flying pet peeves but will stop for tonight.

I would not take it personally, there are so many people who crowd the gate you can't make heads or tails as to whats going on.

Once I got stuck behind a wall of 3 people who would not respond to excuse me during Elite boarding. They of course where not boarding but decided to stand in front of the rope.

Had I cut in front of them before being called for Elite and maybe they where elite how would I look?

It's not so much their appearance, it's just a mess and NWA doesn't seem to want to do much to correct it.

Even if all call is faster, at least with zone boarding 60-75% of the pax sit and wait to be called, verse 0-5% with all call. *Yes my numbers may be skewed

Now that Southwest has a new boarding system breaking up boarding into groups of 5 (even though still no assigned seat), their boarding process is much more civilized than NW's "everyone may board" after FC and elites. Apparently NW thinks this is quicker though of course each airline has their own idea of what "quicker" is!

Why is it that... NW343 is already P0/F0 more than a week out (3/31). Actually, in general, why is it that NW only flies 757s for half of its DTW-SFO routes, and sticks in A320s for the rest?

Ok, so maybe that's not the pet peeve you were looking for, but you should have been more specific :P

I wouldn't call ANYTHING on Southwest "civilized"... I refuse to fly them, no matter how much I save.

Getting back to the original post, I tend to "dress down" when I fly, since most (all?) my travel is personal. I can recognize the typical PE's by their attitudes (that is, not to say it's bad, but you can tell a person who travels for a living), and I can understand how they might think that I am just another one of those clueless idiots who might fly once a year and stands in the way or tries to sneak on board early.

I just push forward as well... as "politely" as possible.

I don't feel all that accomplished as a GE - even though I only fly domestic. I did however, as of the end of February meet almost half BIS miles of what I flew in total last year, so if I ever get the unfortunate luxary to become PE - I might feel a bit more accomplished since after last year, 75k just seems so far far away..

My pet pev is being pushed out of the way of guys in business suits. I like to fly in comfy clothes and don't look like I should be an elite. My favorite thing to do is if somehow got an upgrade and see what I think is a plat wave to them as I sit down in F as there sitting in there Y seat that they were in such a hurry to get too.

Not a pet peeve, exactly... But does everyone really take a keen interest in what everyone else looks, acts, and dresses like? This goes for those who knock the guy in jeans and a t-shirt out of the way because he doesn't look elite as well as those noting who is wearing suits or who they think might be a PE.

I've never really assumed much of anything about other passengers either before they get on the plane or afterwards. Frankly, I don't really care. While I've not made detailed notes, I'd guess I've been slighted about equally by people in suits and those in dressed very casually.

What really has been a pet peeve recently is when we arrive at the gate right on time and it takes several minutes to find a ground crew to bring us in or find a gate agent to move the jet bridge. Just seems to be happening more as of late...

To answer the OP: my only flying pet peeves have to do with the constant nickel and diming on the part of airlines - and I pray NW doesn't go the way of Delta and start charging $25 to check a second bag - and my inability to afford biz class tickets.

Let's make it happen even faster. This is in no way NW related and provides no info to help anyone with their NW travel experience.

How about we just kick it over now?

My main pet peeves are all in the 'other passengers' category; gate lice, those who don't get liquids/BPs/laptops out for security, those who don't follow rules of basic hygiene or decorum when flying.

Gate lice (especially in business suits lol!) who, even when asked to step aside refuse and passengers who make security unnecessarily long and tedious. Never ready to take off their shoes or stow their stuff in the containers and then when they finally get through they clog the area where you pick up your bags. Last week I finally spoke to a "gentleman" who wouldn't let me get to my purse.

As in almost any group, there are some frequent flyers who let the "Elite" categorization go to their heads and are more than just a little high-schoolish...they act like they're in the cool kids clique as they board early and sit up front. They tend to forget that there are occassional flyers who don't have to travel and/or wear suits for a living who actually have bigger houses, faster cars, and hotter girlfriends than they do.

Well sometimes if you stand at the Gate and don't move it is the assumption one is not FC. As there are a ton that are not FC and just stand right in front with that dumb look on their face so at that point you just move in front of them and board
