thats rude.but there are people who are tactless.

i may just shrug, smile and makes an excuse. There are other things or other people which I persnally know who can ruin my trip or my day, but not with total stranger like him.

What a clown. I can't imagine doing that to anyone, though apparently there are plenty of people who can. I don't know what kind of smart-aleck retort I'd have used, but probably not as good of one as the others posted here.

Why do you say this, exactly? Is one more or less human than the other?

Not that I can speak for htb, but IMO the difference is that members of only one of the two groups can affect my health or comfort by practicing their unhealthy behavior in my presence.

I usually just tell them to STFU. It's straight, to the point and very effective.

SJC1K already answered for me. Smoking is something that affects everyone around, being fat affects primarily the person that's fat.

iff's mention of fat spreading through social networks seems to indicate the necessity of strangers to point out the obvious... Social checks inside the family network don't seem to work then.

I haven't heard about the link to viruses yet -- but it doesn't seem to be far-fetched. I just hope a cure is found (if it's true), otherwise it will be used as an excuse and lead to more weight gain.
