One more thing: Why don't you get any international magazines in the US, not even at large train stations or International airports? I always searched for some German magazines. There was one store that had two, it was on Broadway between 64th and 65th but those magazines were 2-3 month old. I had been to Germany in between to get updated....

It's a language thing. You can actually find a lot of them if you hunt them down - most cities have either a specialty magazine stand or a really, really big bookstore that carries them They sometimes have them in different sections, though. I find you can get most car magazines, design magazines, and the more technical ones in the US, the news and personality ones are the ones that are harder to find, But, I noticed that the version you buy in Europe may not be precisely what you get over here.

Egg tarts in Macau.
Too bad they would never last the flight home :P |
Paper tissues is such a thing.
In the US, you better not sneeze to hard into them... On the other hand, the US is the country in which everybody has those convenient tissue boxes. Fortunately they are available in Germany as well by now ^ Over here, they are thicker and they can stand more pressure ;) |
From the US...
Post Honey Bunches of Oats (breakfast cereals). My Kingdom for a bowl of these. And yes, it DID cause me some intensive questioning from TSA when they searched my carry-on on a recent transatlantic (BOS-FRA) flight. All that it contained was three boxes of cereals. ;) No liquids or gels, though, so I was cleared eventually :p Cheers, J- |
Does anyone have suggestions for what to buy in Buenos Aires?
|
Boxes of a couple of favorite Harrods teas, always purchased in Harrods shop at LHR before flight back to LAX.

Drumgray from Scottland. Kind of like Bailey's, but better.
And Worcester flavored Twiglets from UK. I got hooked on the darn things. Oh- and Lotte pies from South Korea! I'm gonna go cry now, guys. I'd almost, almost forgotten how much I crave those things. |

The Lotte pies are available from your nearest Korean grocery in Phoenix. I know because I've bought them in Phoenix! |
