Years ago I read a travel guide about Las Vegas that said the slots in the airport were more generous than those at the casinos. Apparently they they were set up that way to suck the punters into thinking that their trip to Las Vegas was going to be easy pickings.
If that was the case I'd go to Las Vegas and spend all my gambling time at the airport! Anybdy know for sure whether the slots at LAS are more generous than those outside the airport?

I'm a big fan of MKE. Check out this thread on the MKE airport: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433737

A vote for Greensboro-Spartanburg airport.....it's an architectural gem, in a subtle way...won major awards when built......take some time to stand still and "feel" the concourse space, the width without columns, the proportion of the space, even if ceiling is not high......the cental restaurant-bar area (after security) reamains orginal from the late 60s cool...hop on large leather stools at the bar.....a delight!

I really like Denver, it feels like it was designed that way and not some part monster like most large airports. I spent about half an hour last Sunday just sitting with some food overlooking the A gates with the Rockies a few miles off watching the aircraft take off to the west.
Some may say it is soul-less but it feels like everything is in its place and there is a place for everything ^

I never heard any live music there, just the country artists making all the announcements, and yeah, the food there is the essence of the blow.

I always thought Austin was a surprisingly great airport. It's bright and open, there's lots of food, decent shops, and not a horrible place to hang out.

HNL.
The open air terminals let you take in the smells and weather of the islands on arrival or until departure.
It is old and dumpy at the moment, but a huge multi-year revamp is "hopefully" to begin.

For me, HNL is near tops on my list just the way it is. Apart from more/better food service options, It looks and works great and always keeps me occupied during layovers. My favorite is always a walk to the UA terminal which has to be the most frozen in time (circa 70's) that I know of.

I hate to say anything nice about IAD but... if you have a few hours there is the Smithsonian Air and Space annex (the Udvar-Hazy center) just south of Dulles. Some really neat planes, including the Enola Gay.

There is a major terminal renovation scheduled for the next couple of years or so, and I hope that better food options are part of the plan. I can expense my breakfast on the way out of town, but I usually eat at home before I leave because there's nothing appetizing at the airport.
At least the parking is cheap!

I would slit my wrists before spending a minute more than absolutely necessary in LAS.
I second the recommend to head to the Air & Space site at IAD (8 min cab ride?), if you've got the time. It's incredible what they've got assembled there (an SR-71, Concorde, Space Shuttle, Enola Gay, etc.).
I'm sure it will draw a few guffaws, but I think that ATL has a lot of really interesting (and rotating) displays, even if it's easy to miss them. JFK is a hole, but it's still one of the world's crossroads. Can't beat the people watching in that.

Is it part of IAD or somewhere nearby? Can you get there from the terminal i.e. bus or walk?
