Teens in Premium Cabins
This really bothers me. Usually when I fly solo my parents book me into Business Class and I hate that people always think I am an upgraded coach passenger. I am only 18, and I think I have flown economy twice. (I fly very often) I have been asked if I was upgraded before. Once a man on a flight with BA grumbled because I was served the last chicken meal. (Very last row) He had the nerve to say "I think the paying passengers should get first choice of meals, not the upgraded ones" to which I was livid. I took that moment to tell him exactly what I thought about that. I was def. a paying customer. I know it is silly, but it makes me so mad. Just because we are teens dosent mean we are in coach! Ok. Rant done.
Thanks for putting up with that :P
(Also silly that the airline didnt have enough chicken meals for all passengers. I mean what if we all want chicken? lol)

What an awful situation to be in -- to be a teenager on a paid J class ticket.
Who cares?? This is such a silly posting. You paid for your ticket, so enjoy yourself. It sounds like you're just searching for validation here or something.
I vote to move this post out of the DL forum.

I think it's a legitimate gripe...the CO board has a long standing multi-year thread about the experiences of younger folks who are Elite members and the actual or perceived differences in service and treatment they receive from crew and other passengers.
If someone suggested I shouldn't be in First or Business, or receive service subordinate to them because of my age, appearance or clothing, I would tell them to bugger off too.
I have witnessed plenty of passengers in both the premium and tourist cabins who appeared well over the age of 40, but behaved more like they were still 5. The knife cuts both ways.

I used to fly J all the time, but I felt too spoiled. I'm not sure why, but I (truly) feel more comfortable in the Y cabin although FT does keep pushing me towards wanting to fly in J again
[I'm 17.]

Well I experience some of the same issues as the OP except that i'm flying on upgraded Y tickets ;-)
I usually get odd looks (i'm 20.. and look it) but I always dress business casual or preppy casual (Abercrombie style clothes). Always served my Mojitos though and usually the FA's are nice (sometime the other pax are disdainful)

2 problems here:
#1 - it's nobody else's business how you came to sit in F. Screw 'em. You're not responsible for their feelings.
#2 - you really need to find another way to measure your worth besides what your father can afford to pay for an airline ticket.

Maybe if you come from a really weathly family, all you look for your whole life is to fit in like an "average joe". Sitting in Y might then be better than J.
