I hate to be negative, but from the looks of how things are currently going, I think they may be reallocated to the lessor before too much longer...

The $10 fares were plentiful very early this morning at around 4:45 am. I got some $10 fares to Oakland and returning from Burbank during Spring Break. I also got $10 fares in February to Punta Gorda on the additional flight that they added thanks to the reduction of west coast service and I got another trip to Burbank in May for $10.

They will be reallocated to an additional flight to Punta Gorda and Greenboro from CMH. Also, the rumor is they'll be reallocated to GSO as a focus city.

So does it actually change based on what time of day you check it? That seems weird.

I'm afraid I have to agree. They're fleeing three separate markets in the west. That seems like an indication of failure generally.

They extended their schedule this morning which is why there were plenty of $10 fares.

They are fleeing two markets. Burbank is just being cut back to one daily. This shows failure due to the rise of oil from around $60 a barrel when they planned the west coast markets to around $88 today. I believe focusing on short-haul markets will help, but will it be enough? Many will say no, but I'm staying optomistic.

I hope you're right. I'm rooting for these folks to succeed.

That only shows a complete failure in planning or complete ignorance. In todays market you would have to be insane to think oil prices will stay the same. It is inevitable they will rise (and fall) as the market fluctuates. As a company you need to be prepared for that. They were only established 6 months ago.....this is not exactly long term planning here.

Ah that makes sense. So does that mean they are all gone and prices will just go up from what they are? If that's the case, no one is going to fly this ever!

So what happened to their plan to buy 65 new planes? Now they can't buy fuel for the 5 they have already.

BearX220 Oct 17, 2007 12:06 pm

It's not going to happen. Skybus is sort of a PeopleExpress flameout story in fast forward. PE took five or six years to implode; Skybus is running the same play in five or six months.

Ive flown BUR-CMH three times so far. Once at 120, once at 140, and once at 10.00 each way. Looking at the future schedule out to May, the lowest price is 100 one way. So that is 240 with taxes RT. And that was the minimum, some were 175 each way. The only thing now that they have going for them is they are one of the only carriers besides Delta to have a non-stop from BUR to CMH and their seats are more comfortable.

Other then that, You can score a sub 200 fare to CMH almost anytime if you look and wait....so how far does skybus think they can raise fares. Destined for failure.

And they're really not even cutting Burbank... they just moved that second BUR flight over to GSO.

steveme Oct 24, 2007 12:19 pm

I think its probably a good idea. The BUR flights I was on were only full half the time...usually there were 20-50 seats empty. But with this price increase Im flying DELTA this weekend instead of Skybus.

MileageAddict Oct 24, 2007 2:10 pm

I want them to fail. If their idea of customer service and amenities was to be successful and other airlines adopted a similar philosophy, I think I would give up flying alltogether.
